A few years back, there was a big demand for guitars that made use of sea turtle shells. The novelty of owning one is understandable but there are more reasons why it is such a bad idea:

1) It is unthinkable to hurt turtles.
2) It's not sustainable.
3) It does nothing for the guitar or ukulele as an instrument.

The use of turtle shells for guitar making is now illegal. As we all know, sea turtles are now considered endangered.

We thought that by using fiberglass, we can create turtle-inspired ukuleles that sound and look great and at the same time promote awareness and appreciation towards these magnificent creatures.

To get our message across a larger audience, Turtulele has partnered with Large Marine Vertebrate Research Institute Philippines (LAMAVE) wherein for every Turtulele purchase, a portion of the proceeds go to Sea Turtle conservation.
