Former NFL star Warrick Dunn has helped over 250 single parents become first-time homeowners. Growing up in a single-parent household in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, he learned the challenges families face.

After his mother, Corporal Betty Smothers, passed away, Warrick took responsibility for his five siblings. In his autobiography Running for My Life, he reflected, “She was the mom, and I became the father figure. Suddenly it was just me, and I had to take action.”

Drafted by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 1997, Warrick was inspired by coach Tony Dungy to give back. That lesson led to Warrick Dunn Charities, which helps single parents across 16 states with home down payments, furnishings, and groceries.

He says one lesson from his mother guides him: “Never lose sight of where blessings come from, and our responsibility to care for and serve others.”

Today marks January 4, a solemn moment as we remember PLTCOL Glenn T. Hife, whose passing occurred on this day last year, January 4, 2025.

PLTCOL Hife served as Chief of Police of the Tuburan Municipal Police Station and was known for his steadfast leadership, integrity, and dedication to public service. Throughout his career, he worked tirelessly to promote peace, strengthen community relations, and uphold justice, earning the respect of his colleagues and the community he served.

As we pause to honor his life and service, we extend our heartfelt thoughts to his family, friends, and all who continue to be inspired by his commitment and legacy. His dedication to duty and service to others will not be forgotten.

Gone, but remembered with respect and gratitude.

Authorities have confirmed that 4-year-old Johnathan Everett Boley, who had been reported missing since Wednesday, has passed away. He was located near his father’s home in Walker County, Alabama. Johnathan’s dog, Buck, was found safe with him.

The search covered more than 500 acres and involved local law enforcement, first responders, volunteers, helicopters, drones, and police dogs. Officials noted that his mother traveled from Florida and is cooperating fully with investigators.

Our thoughts are with Johnathan’s family during this difficult time. We encourage the community to keep them in their prayers as more information becomes available.
