The Dean Chicago Standard series, introduced around 2013, was a limited-run line designed to celebrate Dean Guitars' heritage by replicating the specifications of the original Dean ML “Destroyer “ models manufactured in the Chicago factory during the late 1970s.

These guitars are known for High-End appointments, featuring all-mahogany construction, set necks, and vintage-voiced pickups.

Key characteristics and specifications of the Chicago Standard Series include:

Construction: Set Mahogany V-neck with a Mahogany body.

Electronics: Equipped with DiMarzio Super Distortion pickups (bridge & neck), wired with a 3-way switch, dual volume controls, and a single master tone.

Hardware: Grover tuners and a Tune-O-Matic string-through bridge.

Fingerboard: Rosewood

Details: 24-3/4" scale length, 1-11/16" nut width, and real pearl dot inlays.

Finish: Classic Black

Just finished making repairs for this Cort acoustic. It arrived with a broken neck. Someone attempted to repair, it did not hold. It is now repaired and the neck is strong.
It received a new bone nut, a new bone saddle.
The fingerboard resurfaced and frets dressed.
Much work with a limited budget. Very happy to help.

After all of this it was setup. Ready to head home and enjoyed by the owner.

Although it has received numerous repairs it does have further work needed. A reset neck would cure the action, I set it as low as possible without a reset to at least make it playable. The bridge position is incorrect causing misalignment with the fretboard. Perhaps someone has reset it improperly. So there may one day be a part two for this instrument.

Benedict patiently waited while his guitar had several repairs and changes. Seymour Duncan was consulted for alternative wiring options, a deviation from supplied schematics. We found the best fit for Benedict.

This included;
Preparing a custom made bone nut,
Dress frets for zero buzz
Clean and treat the fretboard
Install new set of locking tuners (included plugging excess screw holes and drilling new)
Removing all poor condition electronics,
Upgraded to modern U.S. potentiometers with a Push pull to split the full set of;
Seymour Duncan lil’ 59’ humbuckers.
CTS potentiometers
Installed Pure Tone output jack
Install pure copper shielding
Completely re-wired system
Repaired loose/stripped screw holes
Install stainless steel pickguard screws
Repair truss-rod screw holes & install correct sized screws
Install set of Elixir strings
Set up for optimal playing with low action.
