⛴️ According to a latest report, more than 60% of seafarers admit that the maritime career they were once passionate about has changed so drastically over the last decade that it now feels almost unrecognisable.
🗣️ While many joined the profession for the adventure, global travel, and financial security, they now face a reality filled with relentless workload, stricter regulations, rising paperwork, mental health neglect, and isolation.
⚓️ One seafarer heartbreakingly stated, “I used to love this job, but I hate what it has become in the last 10 years.” From increased pressure during port operations to lack of shore leave and worsening onboard support, the profession has lost much of its original appeal.
⚠️ The industry’s failure to evolve with crew welfare in mind is turning seafaring into a job of endurance rather than pride, driving dissatisfaction and potentially pushing experienced mariners out of the workforce.
