The Boss DS-2 Turbo Distortion was introduced in 1987 as an evolution of the original DS-1, adding greater tonal flexibility through its Turbo modes.

While retaining the sharp, cutting distortion Boss was known for, the DS-2 expanded its range by offering a second mode with increased gain and midrange emphasis ideal for solos and heavier styles.
