Love your enemies.
Madaling sabihin…
pero minsan sila pa yung pinaka-trigger mo.
Yung taong nanghamak.
Yung nanakit.
Yung nagbackstab.
Yung nagpa-stress.
Pero si Jesus mismo nagsabi:
“Love them.”

Love them? Really???

“But I say to you, love your enemies,
bless those who curse you,
do good to those who hate you,
and pray for those who spitefully use you.”
Matthew 5:44 NKJV

Spoken by Jesus in the Sermon on the Mount.
Countercultural ang teaching na ’to.
Sa Israel noon, normal ang principle na “love your neighbor, hate your enemy.”
Pero si Jesus nag-level up:
“Love your enemy.”
Ibang klaseng Kingdom attitude.

Ang word na “love” dito ay ἀγαπάω (agapao)
meaning:
to choose to value,
to act in kindness,
to will what is good for another,
even if ayaw mo sa kanila.
Hindi ito romantic.
Hindi rin ito emotional.
It’s a deliberate decision to reflect God’s heart.

Jesus didn’t say:
“Love your enemies when they apologize.”
Hindi rin:
“Love your enemies if they change.”
Ang sabi Niya:
Love. Bless. Do good. Pray.
Bakit?
Because loving an enemy
is not about rewarding them;
it’s about transforming you.

Kapag nagmamahal ka ng kaaway,
hindi ibig sabihin na tama sila.
Ang ibig sabihin:
hindi mo hinahayaan na hatred ang maging master mo.
Forgiveness frees you.
Prayer heals you.
Kindness protects your heart.
Love breaks the cycle.

Kung may kaaway ka,
kung may naka-offend sa'yo,
kung may taong mahirap mahalin,
hindi mo kailangang maging close sa kanila.
Hindi mo rin kailangang maging BFF ang mga yun.
Pero pwede mong piliing maging:
– kind
– prayerful
– forgiving
– Christlike

Love your enemies...
not because they deserve it,
but because Jesus loved you
when you didn’t deserve it.

May mga araw na ang bilis uminit ng ulo mo.
May mga moment na saglit lang…
gusto mo na talagang sumabog.

Yung tipong ang daling mag-type ng masasakit na words, ang dali rin magbitaw ng tirada.

Pero napansin mo ba to?
Merong gentle tap sa puso mo.

May parang humahawak sa labi mo at nagsasabing,

“Anak, wait lang…
hindi ganyan ang language natin.”

That’s the Holy Spirit.

Ephesians 4:29
“Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up…”

Ang salitang “unwholesome” dito ay galing sa Greek word na sapros.

Alam mo ibig sabihin nun?

Rotten.
Bulok.
Panis.
Nabubulok na prutas o isda.

Ibig sabihin, when Paul says “Do not let unwholesome talk come out of your mouth,” ang image sa likod ng word ay bulok na pagkain na hindi dapat ipakain sa iba.

No wonder minsan, pag may “bulok” ka nang sasabihin…

Holy Spirit be like:
“Anak, wag mo ipakain sa kanila ‘yan. Makakasakit ka.”

The next phrase says:

“…but only what is helpful for building others up.”

In Greek, the phrase “building up” (oikodomē) ay ginagamit sa pag-construct ng bahay:
brick by brick, patiently, intentionally.

So si Paul, hindi lang “stop bad words” ang sinasabi.

Ang full picture is this:
Wag kang maglabas ng “bulok” na salita.
Maglabas ka ng “pang-construct” na salita.

In short:
Every word you say is either a demolition or construction.
