Happy first Sunday of August. It's been more than two weeks of non stop rain. I do hope that you're all safe and warm.
A little backstory, when I was starting Abean Coffee. I asked one of our dear farmers what his definition of single origin is. And this is what how he defined single origin..
"I consider single origin as a product that comes from the same place with the same altitude and topographical features.. Haan nga jay harvest t maysa nga farmer.. Ta ditoy ayan tau ngarud ket babassit t mamulaan.. Ket nu jay maysa farmer ket nagmula ditoy sagada t 200 trees tapos ada daga n jY bontoc minulaa metlang t kapi.. Nu agapit dyay ket considered ngata nga single origin latta.." He goes on and adds, "Ada kma t usto nga definition na nga ited da tapno isu suruten tau.. "
Yes, there is still no definite definition of single origin coffee, but majority of people follows the definition that single-origin coffee means it came from a single producer, crop, or region in one country. Single origin coffee means that you can trace where it came from, to check the legitimacy of the coffee.
Ket, nagadu inbaga kon. To protect our dear farmers, don't hesitate to ask and verify. ;) Diyay lang. Be safe! Be inquisitve! Stay informed! Agkape tayo tapnu pumudot ti bagi.
