Wellington ICT Being the only tech oriented charity organisation that ensures no Wellingtonian is left behind and that everyone is able to participate in today’s knowledge society.Our projects over the last 10 years have included computer hubs, laptops to hospices, literacy in computers training and technical support to small community organisations. They will continue to innovate and find ways to make Wellington a better, brighter, more connected and more technology-friendly place for everyone, particularly for the poor, marginalised, underprivileged and underserved.

They also ensure that local teachers are supported in their knowledge of the business sector. On an annual basis we bring teachers together for a briefing on issues of relevance an to celebrate the partnerships that have taken place during the year.

Nga Hau e Wha o Papararangi is an urban marae that serves the people of the northern suburbs. They have a Maori Kaupapa but are open to all ethnicities. They foster learning and practice of Maori performing arts, weaving, healing, cuisine and language. They carry out restorative activities, cultural experiences and simple get together’s. Their facilities complement the other community facilities in Newlands and make for a more engaged and supportive community.

Wellington Citizens Advice Bureau offer free, confidential advice and support to anyone in the immediate wellington community. Their service is staffed by 170 volunteers who give 30,000 hours p.a in order to ensure that everyone knows what is available to them and the rights they are all born with. Their specialised advisors offer professional, sound advice that helps those that do not know, or do not have the resources available to access services or organisations that they need to enlighten their lives in a positive way.

The Heart of the Hutt Trust, The Anchorage was specifically set up to offer the services of a community lounge for the people of the hutt valley. Although originally we had ascertained that most of our visitors would be in the older age group, we offer anyone a friendly and caring environment in which people can meet or rest awhile. They have regular and irregular visitors, and passers by who are welcomed and supported through our large group of trained volunteers. What a wonderful asset to have in your community, thank you for all you do.

Parafed Wellington (previously known as Wellington Paraplegic and Physically Disabled Association Inc.) is a non-profit organisation managed by a board of elected volunteers. Our goal is to provide or facilitate sporting, recreation or leisure opportunities for our members. For many people with a physical disability it can be difficult to join in or participate in a sport or leisure activity of their own choice. Parafed Wellington can make it easier for members to achieve that goal. Parafed Wellington recognises the "No Exceptions" policy and is an advocate and facilitator for members with disabilities to have access to sporting and recreational activities. Parafed Wellington is committed to providing assistance and resources, including funding assistance for equipment. Thank you for helping the people that you do it is really appreciated and worthy.

Newlands Civil Resilience Group is one of 20 projects identified by the newlands community survey adopted by the newlands paparangi progressive association’s strategy. This strategy established a community-owned and operated emergency group for the newlands, woodridge and paprangi areas, including grenada village, whose sole focus is to raise community awareness and preparedness in a disaster. Birthright Wellington offers confidential and home based support to one parent families in the wellington and porirua areas. Helping to break the cycle of low self esteem and self worth and improve their well being and sense of community and safety. Their aim is to ensure that every child has a “birthright” like any two parent child to reach their full potential. We see an increased sense of well being, increased confidence and identification of their strengths and abilities and healthy relationships. Te Omanga Hospice is a dedicated palliative care facility based in the Hutt Valley to provide care for those living with a terminal illness across the spectrum from homecare to daycare and hospice environments. Their organisation is supported by over 500 volunteers who provide essential services every year. The team is on call 24/7 7 days a week for consultation and advice to patients and their families.
