✨TRAITORS NZ✨
You may have seen the ads on TV or one of several articles online about the new season of Traitors NZ and it being filmed locally. BUT did you know that props for the show were also sourced locally!? You guessed it….from the Crows Nest!

Last year we had several crew members stocking up on all sorts of weird and wonderful items to use during filming. Majority of which were returned as donations, including the Legit Traitor robes! (As seen below…cue *fan girling*)

So heres a heads up to keep an eye out when watching this season, you may see one of your fantastic donations or one of your purchases staring back at you through the screen!

How cool is that!

🧵🔧 A Repair Café with a Creative Twist – This Mother’s Day - Sunday! 💐

Alongside all your usual repairs (we will have woodwork, electrical, bikes, and sewing fixes), we’re adding something special…

✨ Yarn & Stitch: Repair & Learn ✨
A hands-on, creative space where you can:
• Learn to knit
• Fix or troubleshoot knitting projects
• Reuse yarn from thrifted garments
• Master simple sewing skills (like buttons and basic repairs)
• Have a go on a sewing machine

💡 Got something at home that’s been sitting in Mum’s “to fix” pile for months (or years)? Bring it along and surprise her with it repaired – or better yet, bring her with you and make a morning of it 💚

🛠️ Don’t forget – our amazing volunteers will be on hand to help fix a wide range of items and add a visit to the Crows Nest Timaru!

🍄 Happening TODAY! Pop on over to South Canterbury Eco Centre 🍄

🍄 Today’s the day! 🍄 Learn about fungi and get crafty with us. Meet the famous James from Spore and Stem Shroomery — did you spot him in the Timaru Herald last week? 👀

While you’re out in Redruth, make the most of the trip:
🛍 Pop into Crows Nest Timaru
🌿 Take a wander around the wetlands or Redruth Park
🧭 Hunt for a few geocaches
♻️ Drop off donations at the Crow’s Nest collection point at the transfer station
📦 Or finally tackle that pile of extra recycling (we all have those big boxes hiding in the garage!) and drop it at the transfer station for free.

Make a little adventure of it — we’d love to see you there! 🍄✨

This Sunday is our monthly Repair Café! Our amazing volunteers will be offering a range of repair skills (see graphic) to help give your well-loved items a second life.

Interested in helping every now and again? Come along, have a look, and see what it’s all about - we’d love to have you involved! Have a talk to the team about our May event where we are bringing a little extra to the learning and repairs!
