Over the last few years we've worked alongside hundreds of communities preparing for disasters.
One challenge kept coming up.
Communities often had a building.
They often had volunteers.
But when it came time to activate as a welfare centre or Community Emergency Hub, the practical tools needed to coordinate people, information and resources were often scattered, missing, or stored in multiple locations.
So our team started asking a simple question:
What if everything needed to activate a Community Emergency Hub was stored in one mobile unit, ready to go at a moment's notice?
Drawing on our experience supporting communities across Aotearoa, and using the Civil Defence Community Emergency Hub model as our foundation, we set out to create a practical system that could help communities get organised quickly when disaster strikes.
The result is the WASP.
The Welfare Activation System Pod.
A mobile welfare centre activation system containing the tools, resources, signage and coordination equipment needed to establish a functioning response centre when it matters most.
We're incredibly proud of what the team has created.
Not because it's another product.
But because we believe it will help community leaders spend less time searching for resources and more time supporting the people who need them.
