Sound and Vision Cycles After 11 years in the audio industry, we decided to mix things up and introduce our love affair of mountain bikes into the business.

We are proud (and super stoked) to say we are now the Yeti Cycles dealer for Hawkes Bay.

Keep off the tracks this time fam 🤘

Well it's raining already, and we're going to get a whole lot more this week :-(
With 150-200mm of rain forecast we are making the call now to close Pan Pac Mountain Bike Park to protect our tracks. The gate is locked. Please stay off the tracks for the rest of this week. We will advise when they are good to go again. Keep dry everyone!

✨ Important Track Updates ✨

It's become apparent the Waipunga block doesn't handle the rain so well. Lots of clay sections get boggy and slippery quickly, and struggling to dry with the reduced sunshine hours hitting that side of the hill.
We are learning more about how long it takes to dry out, now thinking a good rule of thumb is allow 3 good weather days after rain for it to dry out before considering riding at Waipunga - this is variable as depends on rain amount and if sunny and windy days follow.

It appears riders have been out riding on Sunday and Monday and have cut up the tracks. Please use common sense and stay off the tracks when it's been wet. Beam Me Up in particular, please turn around and head back down if it's wet and find a gravel uphill alternative such as magog rd.

Where to avoid today:
Waipunga had 25mm of rain last weekend, and as of last night Beam Me Up climbing track, Horseshoe and Rimrock have pockets way too boggy for riding and in some places trecherous. Please stay off them today. Other tracks may also have been affected so pls turn around and head back to start of track if you find them soft and leaving tire indents.

Where to ride today:
The replanted block tracks (Cannonball, Minefield etc) have held up well since the rain, so suggest heading over that side and riding up via Magog road, Enterprise and Timewarp (to avoid Beam Me Up). Also as an alternative, Te Mata Peak has dried out nicely so good tacky riding today.

The club is in the process of getting a weather station put into Waipunga and linked to our club website. We hope this will help take some of the guesswork out of post rain riding.

Thank you everyone for playing your part in preserving the tracks when conditions have been wet.

“A decade ago Yeti peaced out of the lycra game. While they were busy getting down, XC got a whole lot more X, calling for the comeback of a legend the ASR helps today’s racers be faster where they have to be.

On first blush it may appear to have peers, but don’t get it twisted, the reincarnated ASR is a lot like nothing else.”
