🎄✨ Chrysanthemum ‘Muriel’ is in bloom! ✨🎄
Just in time for Christmas bouquets and decorations. At least here in the Nelson area.
Now we’re curious… if you have Muriel in your garden, is she flowering where you are? We’d love to hear!

Muriel is a no-fuss garden hero:

No stop dates to remember

Pests mostly leave her alone

Not picky about daylight like some of our autumn queens

She’s a strong, reliable friend in the garden. Plant her close for nice 50–90cm stems for cutting, or give her room to bush out for a garden feature. After this first flush of blooms, just prune her back near ground level, feed, water (but not too much!), and get ready for a second burst of flowers in February.

We’re excited to see how Muriel is behaving in gardens around NZ — so tell us… is she blooming in yours yet?

Update Time!
We’ve had such an amazing response to our plug-grown Chrysanthemum plants (thank you! 🙌) that we've decided to branch out a bit…

Ranunculus plug plants are AVAILABLE NOW and ready to ship!
Just 10 deliciously dreamy varieties this time — all from top-tier Italian and French cut flower seed stock. Think elegance, think lush colour, think ooh la la blooms. 

Each seedling comes in a 3cm x 5cm peat/coir plug, fully hardened off and garden-ready — whether you're planting into beds, containers, or tunnel houses.

Give them a little TLC in week one — protect from -1°C frosts if you can and shelter from wild winds (especially the tall ones!).

These are seed-grown Ranunculus, so they’ll form a corm by season’s end — perfect for saving or letting them perennialise.
(👀 Between us, I can already spot baby corms forming!) Our 50 PACKS are the most cost-efficient!

National Chrysanthemum Show – Timaru, NZ 2025
What a spectacular weekend it’s been at the National Chrysanthemum Show in Timaru! A
huge round of applause to all the passionate growers whose dedication, patience, and love
for these beautiful blooms were on full display – every stem told a story.
Hats off to the organising team and the hardworking NZ National Chrysanthemum
Society for pulling everything together so smoothly behind the scenes. And the big effort of
the Timaru Horticultural Society for being such fabulous, welcoming hosts – the venue
looked stunning.

pairings I just never would of thought of and equally those of you who just plonked (your

Please note, we currently ship cut flowers to urban New Zealand only. Our flat-rate shipping fee covers from one to unlimited bunches per order.

Blind buds on Chrysanthemum.
I have been asked about this quite a bit lately, so in case you need a refresher or are curious here we go....
For Mid to Late flowering Chrysanthemum prune now regardless of the tiny flower buds. If you have done so already, then that's perfect! hopefully, you are seeing some fresh growth starting to push forth from the leaf axis. Flower Buds on these cultivars at this time of year are called blind buds. They will flower but be of poor quality. It is better to cut the plant back to 15cm to 30cm above ground level now and you will be rewarded with fresh growth and a flower with a higher petal count and a better quality flower when they bloom in April to May. Pruning now will also help control the height of your plants. When left unpruned, they can look straggley and untidy. I have lived this !! and if I can save you from the extra big clean up at season's end, then my mission is accomplished. 😄☺️
Once pruned, give a side dressing of your favorite fertilizer and water in well. Sprinkle some neem granules on the soil surface close to the plant base.
