Probably up there with the Booker Prize longlist is the arrival of Barack Obama’s summer reading list.

Of course we’re deep in the grip of winter here - bah humbug - but that just means we’re reading under the soothing warmth of a heat pump rather than the blazing summer sun!

Feast your eyes upon the The Booker Prizes longlist for 2026.

13 diverse novels selected by a judging panel of five, including this year’s chair, Mary Beard.

Previous winners Marlon James and Douglas Stuart are joined by faces familiar and fresh and books range from sharp satire to punchy novellas to literary prose to historical meditative thrillers and so much more.

Have you read any of the longlist titles already? Thoughts?

The shortlist is the next hurdle for the contenders to get the through on 22 September and then the winner is announced on 9 November.
