New in this week is Tom Kerridge’s Proper Pub Food, for those who don’t know Tom his pub The Hand & Flowers in Buckinghamshire is the first pub to be awarded 2 Michelin stars. Tom has been featured on the BBC and his other books cover healthy eating, he is big into looking after his own health and doesn’t drink. Fascinating guy who just loves to cook.

The “Children’s Section” of Lorenzo’s Library is growing! It began with Alain Ducasse’s Cooking for Kids, and has since been joined by The Kids’ Turn to Cook, by Wellington and Wairarapa based food writer Margaret Brooker, and a vintage copy of Wellington chef Des Britten’s Gourmet Cooking for Babies. And there’s child-sized cooking implements courtesy of Vintage Treasure in Martinborough, New Zealand.

Chefs table season 5 on Netflix is out!! One of the episodes features Albert Adria who is best known for his part in the famous restaurant El Bulli. I try and keep this very hard to find book in stock as it’s one of the most amazing books I’ve seen in a while. We also stock other books from Chefs featured on chefs table... Massimo Bottura, Grant Achatz, El Cellar de Can Roca and Will Goldfarb !!

Wow, can’t wait for this, If you haven’t seen or heard of her book then you are missing out on a kitchen essential, Simon Nosrat ( formerly of Chez Panisse ) brings a cooking master class from her book to the screen, we always keep a copy of her book in stock and I commonly use this as a reference point , first third of the book discusses the 4 elements of good cooking the rest is awesome recipes!! ( of note too the book has no photos at all! But some very clever illustration )

New to Lorenzo’s this week IGNI,A restaurant’s first year. Is a fascinating insight into the Geelong (Melbourne) restaurant by Chef Aaron Turner which regularly features in the top 20 restaurants in Australia lists. The book is made up of recipes but also many personal diary entries from the restaurants first year and also prior to opening. The book is beautifully presented with stunning photography by Julian Kingma and the diary entries are raw and un-edited giving you the highs and lows experienced by many chefs and restaurateur at this level. A great read for anyone interested in the lives of chefs and restaurants.
