One of the most special moments after every ride is the presentation of the Reece McDonald Memorial Trophy.

This award recognises the rider who truly lives the spirit of the Chopper Bike Ride — passion, support for others, encouragement, teamwork, kindness, and always being there to help wherever needed.

Reece was the heart and soul of this ride for many years. He introduced so many people to the event, helped riders get across the line, and always did it with a smile. He wanted every rider to enjoy the day, make memories, and feel part of something special. Reece passed away in 2024, but his spirit will forever ride with us.

This year’s recipient was 𝐌𝐢𝐜𝐡𝐚𝐞𝐥 𝐌𝐚𝐧𝐬𝐨𝐧, proudly presented by Reece’s wife, 𝐉𝐨 𝐒𝐡𝐚𝐫𝐩

This morning we drew the names of our Relay For Life raffle winners under police supervision. Congratulations to Hans, Lizzie, and Mark! Thanks to their participation, as well as that of all of our entrants, we were able to raise over $3000 for cancer research right here in Southland and Otago.

Thanks again to our friends at Cube Bikes NZ for their donation of the ebike & helmet!
