Kumiko box.

Decided one day in Lockdown that it was about time to dial in my Kumiko skills. The Kumiko panels are an ancient Japanese design, originally used in decorative wooden screens. This one is the Asanoha pattern.

I had some spare Rimu that a neighbour gave me a while ago and White Pine for the Kumiko and dovetail splines.

Underneath the Kumiko sits some hand made paper from , using 100% recycled denim jeans to add a splash of colour. I really like the ethos of this business and their product is awesome.

Well hello again.

Thought it was about time to share a few projects that I worked on during the most recent lock down.

First up, a family of 'wee bears' for . These were the very first batch, made from simple pine.

It was really nice to get back into some carving, I like the organic process of it all. Nothings measured, just working by feel. A nice way to spend a day in lock down.

Well, its been a while. After a busy few months teaching mountain biking and starting a new part time role as a suspension technician, I have some time in the colder months to get in the workshop.

This was a birthday gift commission piece for - a small tackle box to pack a few choice spinning lures for quick trips to the river.

American White Oak and Black Walnut timbers, magnetic closure and dovetailed button latch. A removable tray makes way for a larger compartment.

Since it was going inside a ruck sack, I rounded the edges to try to avoid snagging on other items in the pack.

Hopefully it brings some fish in!

Safe in the woods.

Wherever you were, this time last year NZ was 4 days into a national level 4 lockdown. Much like the rest of the world, we became one team.

Everyone's lockdown was unique, but we hope that Our House can serve as a reminder of those times for years to come.

We feel privileged and grateful to have had the woods and mountains on our doorstep to safely explore. We all had highs and lows in our lockdowns - for us, this was our high.

Can you believe that this time last year, we were one week away from our national Level 4 Lockdown in NZ?

We havent quite seen the back of Covid 19 in NZ, but we wanted to make something special to mark the 1 year anniversary of the Lockdown.

'Our house' is a simple wee reminder of what it was like to stay home and save lives in 2020. We hope that it reminds you of what it was like to feel safe in our homes, to spend time with our loved ones and to keep our friends as close as we could.

Its perfect as a gift for those that you spent lockdown with, or simply to serve as a reminder of that time in our lives.
