Did you know that every Scottish clan has its own distinctive tartan?󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁧󠁢󠁳

To celebrate bringing the 'Scottish Play' to Dunedin, we took a look at the tartans belonging to some of our characters - with a little help from the wonderful team at The Scottish Shop!

From the bold reds of Macbeth and Macduff to the deep greens of Duncan and Ross, each pattern carries centuries of clan history.
And while our production is set in a world of suits and government, the heritage behind these names runs deep – and it's been fascinating to discover the real history woven into some of Shakespeare's most famous characters 🪶

🩸 MACBETH in association with Avis. Presented with Aotearoa New Zealand Festival of the Arts and Te Ahurei Toi o Tāmaki Auckland Arts Festival, Macbeth is a co-production with West Australian Ballet.
