Jim's Seashells has been collecting and selling seashells for 40 years. I became interested in shells while working as a consultant for the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization in Vanuatu and the Solomon Islands during the 70's and 80's and remain passionate about the beauty of shells. Kids love shells. Some adults retain that passion. We source shells from many places around the Pacif

ic Ocean and Asian region and combine my love of travel to visit remote communities. By buying and selling the shells from these communities, we provide them a source of income from what is generally a waste product once they have eaten the animals. We educate them to preserve the endangered species, and to ship them undamaged. Find me on Trademe or Ebay, or the local Riccarton Markets.

We have Cassis cornuta the horned helmet shell in sizes from 140-240 mm, also Tutufa bubo the giant frog shell, and the related Tutufa bufo the red mouth frog shell. All of these can be made into blowing shells.

Photos show a superb pumoana (shell trumpet) made by mastercarver Brian Flintoff from a red mouth frog shell Tutufa bufo. Truly a taonga (treasure) which may inspire others.
