Donations!

We’re incredibly grateful for the ongoing support and generosity from our community 💛

At this time, we kindly ask that donations of women’s clothing be paused. Unfortunately, for a while now we’ve been receiving a high volume of items that are not suitable for resale, which limits our ability to make the best use of the space and resources we have.

We have been receiving a large amount of other unsaleable items which again means are resources are stretched not to mention our rubbish bill.

Donations of clean, not stained or ripped, mens and childrens clothing is appreciated.

We truly appreciate your understanding and continued support. If you’re unsure about what items we can currently accept, please feel free to reach out—we’re always happy to help!

Thank you for helping us make a positive difference 🌿

Saturday Op Shop Position! (4hrs) (Paid)

We’re looking for a friendly, reliable person to join our op shop team on Saturdays 💛

This is a paid retail role, working alongside our amazing volunteers who help make everything we do possible. Because of this, we’re looking for someone who not only has great customer service skills, but also values community, kindness, and teamwork.

While our shop is proudly supported by an amazing team of volunteers, this role helps provide consistency, reliability, and coordination during key trading hours.

The successful applicant will work alongside other staff to ensure smooth operations and a positive experience for customers.

What you’ll be doing:
• Welcoming and assisting customers
• Working the till and handling sales
• Helping keep the shop tidy and well-presented
• Putting stock out
• Supporting and working alongside other team members

What we’re looking for:
• Positive, approachable attitude
• Reliable and able to work Saturdays
• Comfortable working in a small, community-focused team
• Retail experience is a bonus, but not essential.

If you’d love to be part of a shop that gives back and supports a great cause, we’d love to hear from you!

🌟 A Big Update from New Lives Rescue 🌟

It’s been a little while since we last checked in, and in that time, so much has happened behind the scenes!

New Lives Rescue was founded in 2014 with one simple mission—to give animals a second chance at life. Over the years, we’ve poured our hearts into rescuing, rehabilitating, and rehoming countless animals, each with their own story, their own struggle, and their own hope for a better future.

But as the need grew, so did the challenges. The reality is, we reached a point where we couldn’t keep doing everything—and do it well. Making the decision to step back from frontline rescue was incredibly difficult and emotional for us. However, it was also necessary.

Today, our focus has shifted to something just as important—preventing suffering before it begins. By providing affordable, community-based desexing, we’re helping to stop the cycle of unwanted litters and animals in need.

And this is only possible because of you!

Every donation, every Op Shop purchase, every kind word of support—you’ve helped us continue this mission in a new and meaningful way. 💖
It’s not just desexing though; we’ve had a few other projects happening quietly behind the scenes:
• • A friend of New Lives opened up a shelter here in the Waikato and we’ve helped support them as they work towards being completely financially sustainable. They’re about to hit the two-year mark and 1320 cats and kittens have been welcomed through their doors so far. We’re proud to be a part of that!🐱💕

• • We’ve stood by members of our community who were experiencing temporary financial hardship and struggling to feed their beloved pets. Temporarily filling those bellies has meant those furry family members didn’t end up in shelters.

• • We’ve helped a couple of other organisations fund life-saving medical care. They’re organisations that we love, but who were struggling to justify or cover those veterinary costs.

• • We’ve helped remove animals from organisations that were attempting to work beyond their capabilities and compromising welfare. Those animals are now either laid to rest to or where they need to be to get a real shot at thriving once they’re done healing.

This journey hasn’t been easy, but it has always been worth it.

To everyone who has supported us, believed in us, and stood by us through the changes—thank you. Truly. You are part of every life helped, every hardship eased, and every second chance given.

We may look a little different now, but our heart hasn’t changed.

We’re still here. Still fighting. Still caring.
And we couldn’t do it without you!

Stay tuned for more updates, and thank you for being part of our story. 💕
