Fantastic product.
We have been using this for a while for all sorts of issues. From skin rashes to mud fever to wound care, it works fast and heals without scarring.

Always makes my day to see reviews like this pop up. Our horses are so beautiful and I'm always happy if we can make a horse (or any animal) a little more comfortable in it's skin.

Day 3 of spraying thrush in two horses front hooves. That foul odour is almost gone...still a bit of black gunge but much improved already. Will keep you posted!

08/06/2026

🐴👣 Keep an eye out for these early signs of thrush in your horse's hooves:

Foul Odor: A strong, musty smell could indicate thrush.
Dark Discoloration: Look for black or grayish areas in the hoof.
Softening of Tissues: Check for any soft spots.
Presence of Discharge: Watch out for a thick, black discharge.
Sensitivity or Lameness: Notice any reluctance to bear weight or sensitivity when handling the hoof.
Changes in Frog Shape: Keep an eye on the shape of the frog for any distortion.

Consider using our EquineCare Probiotic topical spray as a preventative measure to maintain hoof health. Early detection can help prevent complications. Regular hoof care and a clean environment are key!

Tash has come up with a great idea for using EquineCare Probiotic on horses that object to being sprayed in the face, or anywhere in fact. Just use a dishwand which can be purchased from your supermarket (next time you go shopping), pour into the handle and wipe on. We cut off the green scratchy piece first so just the sponge bit is touching your horse.

Another 5 star review for our probiotics ⭐️

“It works!

Equine Care Probiotic - It took just over 2 weeks of daily application but it definitely works and all mud fever scabs are gone. Horse was a little suspicious of the spraying but quickly got used to it as it was not painful at all. It has a really weird smell but happy to use a natural product. Thank you."

Daily spraying really is best, as it becomes a numbers game with the microbes - building up enough beneficial microbes to help outcompete the less desirable pathogens on the skin.

And yes…our products definitely have a natural fermentation smell! We don’t add fragrances, synthetics or masking agents as we prefer to keep the products as natural and active as possible.

"I have a mudfever prone boy and it exploded quickly over a few weeks this year in Canterbury. The probiotic treatment seems to be working well, as its non-sticky it doesnt leave a site for dirt to settle. The spray action does create some anxiety for my boy (the sound I think links to initial sensitivity to new bacteria), a squeezy bottle option would be awesome."

Thanks for your review Catherine. Glad to hear it seems to be helping. Yes, the sound and senstion of the spray bottle can be unsettling for some horses especially if they have had past trauma in the area you are spraying. The squeezy bottle is a good idea if the condition isn't too tender to touch and we have used a dishwand from Briscoes or the supermarket before (with the green scratchy bit cut off). Thanks for your suggestion...I have looked into it but squeezy bottles are hard to find in a larger size and very expensive...If anyone can help point us in the right direction for this it does sound like a good option.

4️⃣ Gut Imbalance Happens Easily ⚖️
Antibiotics, stress, travel, diet changes, and even weather can disrupt the gut microbiome—leading to issues like diarrhea, weight loss, and dull coats. Probiotics help restore balance!

5️⃣ Probiotics Improve Coat & Hoof Health ✨
Better digestion = better nutrient absorption! Probiotics help horses get the most from their food, leading to a shinier coat, stronger hooves, and healthier skin.

6️⃣ Not All Probiotics Are Created Equal 🚫
Many dry or powdered probiotics lose potency before they even reach the gut. Liquid probiotics, like EquineCare Probiotic, are more effective because they stay alive and active until they reach the digestive system.

Seedy toe prevention
I have battled seedy toe in one of my horses for a couple of years. I can cure it but it kept coming back until I used Equinecare probiotic spray. I am so pleased and my horses hooves are in great condition despite the wet and muddy winter conditions we are experiencing right now.

We were really pleased to read this review as we recommend our spray for preventing and treating early onset of seedy toe (as our microbes need access to the pathogens.) Once the seedy toe is too far up the hoof wall treatment becomes more difficult. Spraying the white line and hoof once or twice a week keeps the pathogens at bay and may prevent seedy toe from getting its foot in the door (excuse the bad pun!)

The EquineCare Probiotic Spray is liquid gold!
My Drum X had 4 patches of I'm not sure what beneath his fetlock on just one of his four fluffy white legs - scabby and raw. Could have been mud rash but odd only on one leg. Daily treatment over 2 weeks and all gone. SO love this spray!!

Thanks for sharing your experience with our spray, Jackie. Really glad we could help him and you love the spray as much as we do. We can't imagine not having it now especially for times like these.
