Baslov Fishing continued their support of our SIMRAD OMNI sonars with an upgrade from the SX90 to ST90 on FV Simoan

SIMRAD OMNI sonar sales have been strong in Australia with a number of recent installations in the Port Lincoln Purse seine Fleet. Baslov Fishing continued their support of our SIMRAD OMNI sonars with an upgrade from the SX90 to ST90. The Company s Flagship, FV Simoan fishes extensively for Sardines and Blue Fin Tuna for their tuna Ranching operations. Captain Clint Scharfe has been a big fan of SIMRAD OMNI sonars for some time, and leapt at the opportunity to upgrade to the new SIMRAD ST90 Long Range OMNI. This is a powerful low frequency sonar 14-24 Khz.

The ST90 has been designed to search with very long ranges in all weather and sea conditions. Whether it is heavy weather, hard bottom, open waters, weak targets - all echoes are handled by the sonar due to the fully stabilized and very narrow beams combined with the cutting edge signal processing.

The narrow beams provided by the ST90 give you several advantages.

•They increase the range and resolution, and offer a vertical view with additional details and a clearer picture.

• They make the ST90 even more ideal when you need to search for fish close to the sea bottom, or close to the surface, at long ranges.

• They provide a far better vertical view with less "bottom climbing" that what is seen on sonars with a wider beam.

• The narrow beams also decrease the noise level.

ATL Commercial and Australian Fishing Enterprise’s relationship extends over 25 years. AFE has been a longtime user of SIMRAD OMNI sonars supplied and installed by ATL Commercial. When it was time to upgrade the SX90 sonar, AFE and Captain Mick Evenden didn’t hesitate in going for the SIMRAD SU90 Long Range OMNI sonar. FV San Koura Rangi arrives in NZ

ATL Commercial supplied an Electronics package to the new Sanford Scampi Trawler and travelled to Stellendam, Netherlands to complete the installation and commissioning. Eli Barlow did a great job working with Damen Shipyard to complete the installation, Commissioning, and sea trials.

ATL supplied the new SIMRAD TP90 Trawl Positioning system with the PX MK2 Catch monitoring for Triple trawls, the ES80 Split Bean Echo sounder in 38 Khz, and the integrated charting for SeaPlot and OLEX. This advanced electronics package allows full monitoring and control of the Scampi triple trawl, which provides the all important trawl position overlayed onto the SeaPlot and OLEX plotting and Bottom mapping systems. The vessel is equipped with the Paravane winch and cable to provide efficient acoustic signal retention even when fishing in rough weather. The SIMRAD ES80, 38 Khz will also be used for Data collection and survey work in keeping with the best sustainable fishery practices.

SIMRAD SY50 OMNI SONAR

A new compact fish-finding omni-sonar has joined Simrad’s market-leading product portfolio with the launch of the Simrad SY50. Designed with small coastal fishing vessels in mind, the medium-frequency SY50 nevertheless boasts the same advanced functionality which characterizes the larger units in the SIMRAD range; a first for sonars in this price bracket.

Key to the sonar’s suitability for vessels with limited space is an ingenious modification which sites all transceiver electronics within the transducer, negating the need for a transceiver cabinet while also reducing noise and simplifying installation. Only a single ethernet cable runs from the computer in the bridge to the power supply and the hull unit, which makes this product viable for smaller boats. The computer itself contains no fan or any other moving parts, so it will perform without hindrance in humid environments.

With a standard operating frequency of 57kHz, the SY50 nevertheless allows users to choose any frequency between 54 and 60kHz, adjustable in 0.5kHz increments, which gives a potential operating range of up to 2,000m (depending on acoustic conditions). Similarly, the transducer’s omnidirectional sonar beams can be electronically moved in 1° steps from +10° to -60°, enabling users to automatically track fish shoals and survey the entire water volume surrounding the vessel.

SIMRAD SY50 OMNI sonar shows appeal from Sports Fishing and Commercial Fishing customers alike.

ATL Commercial have been busy with customer orders and installations for the new SIMRAD SY50 OMNI directional sonar. Australian customer Sondal Bensan chose the SY50 for his Sport Fisher - Pro-Fish-Ent. Sondal is hugely passionate about his Game fishing, and competes regularly in Australia’s Big Game tournaments and was looking for a decisive advantage on the water, wanting to have the best searching capability available in an 8 Inch OMNI sonar. The SIMRAD SY50 gives unrivalled performance for bait fish detection, and target species identification and Fish Target tracking with superb resolution and Image stabilization.

Recent negotiations concluded with a successful sale of another SY50 sonar to Garry and Lori Somers for their Sport Fisher November Rain. With a strong passion for sportfishing, and Competitive Game fishing Tournaments Garry and Lori Somers chose the new Simrad SY50 OMNI Sonar to give them a competitive edge for bait fish and Predator detection. November Rain fishes in New Zealand, Australian and Pacific Waters but will also venture further afield to some of the Worlds best Sport Fishing waters as part of Garry and Loris future Sportfishing plans. Iridium Certus upgrade for Sanford vessel Tengawai.

Today we were on board Sanfords Auckland fishing vessel Tengawai.

Technician Eli Barlow completed the Intellian C700 Certus Terminal antenna upgrade. "Out with the old, in with the new." The upgrade went well and in no time it was up on the network and ready to go.

The Iridium Certus terminal provides back up and fail over services to VSAT and is capable of delivering High speed data, and voice communications with a wide variety of Data plans and cost options available.

Iridium Certus Fleetwide upgrade for Sanford vessels

Today we were on board Sanfords Auckland vessel FV San Rakaia for the upgrade of a new Intellian C700 Certus Terminal .

Technician Eli Barlow completed the antenna upgrade. The upgrade went smoothly and in no time it was up on the network and ready to go.
This completed a Fleetwide upgrade to the Deep water vessels FV San Waitaki, FV San Enterprise, FV San Granit, FV San Discovery, and the Scampi vessels FV Venture K, FV Albatross, FV Drysdale, and FV San Tangaroa.
