The New Sparxtars from Magicfx

There have been several versions of the non-pyro spark effect machines out in the market for several years now. Essentially these machines mimic the effect of a stage gerbs without being technically a pyrotechnic device. They can be operated off a lighting desk but in many ways is treated in a similar light to a flame unit or Co2 jet in terms of of its safety distances and exclusion zones.

We were not happy with some of the safety features and quality of many or the early spark machines on the market so have waited for a safe quality option to be launched by a reputable manufacturer. Magicfx have recently launched their version the Sparxtar! This is a really cool turnkey machine where the height and intensity of the spark effect can be manipulated live.

We will have six of these in stock from mid-October available for shows and events.

One of the big hassles for confetti has always been the clean-up. It’s the single biggest impediment to a client using confetti.
Inside, confetti can be cleaned up with vacuums, willpower or a clean-up budget passed onto a venue. Outside its often a more difficult prospect particularly if it rains.

Biodegradable vs Water soluble
For years we have had clients asking us for biodegradable confetti for outdoor venues. It’s important to clarify the difference between “biodegradable” and “water soluble” while all our paper/tissue confetti's are biodegradable the process could well take months for the confetti to biodegrade by itself. What these clients are really after is a “water soluble” product that will vanish quickly when exposed to the elements to prevent a clean-up being more then running a hose over the site.

Thankfully after years of searching for a viable option our supplier MAGICFX has developed a great product that ticks all the boxes.

This is where solute confetti by MAGICFX comes in. Dissolves readily in water, can be used in sensitive locations near bodies of water and in many situations where normal confetti cannot be used. Disappears completely when wet.

Its advised when using it in front of a crowd in sensitive locations that the audience are informed of the soluble quality of the product to alleviate any concerns of littering or disregard for the environment.

The only limitation of the product is it only comes in WHITE.

Well, it's winter and the industry is taking a breath after the Madness that is the summer season. At LiveFx we move more into the winter sports arena with regular flame gigs for The Blues, The Chiefs and the Warriors and a couple of AB's games coming up. The Month of September 2018 has been a busy month for LiveFX over a number of jobs. The initial part of the month has been dominated by proving the local pyrotechnics and FX support for the Pink Concerts in NZ. This started with the Show in the Forsyth Barr Stadium in Dunedin, followed by 6 shows at Spark Arena in Auckland. Pyrotech were the North American based FX company touring with Pink and Livefx provided importation of the pyrotechnic product, the H&S documentation for the FX at the venues and organised both the pyro permitting and provided the local licenced pyrotechnicians to be onsite at the shows to enable the pyro to happen. Pink put on a great show much enjoyed by the countless fans who showed up.
Also, this month Livefx has provided Confetti and low fog equipment to a life Church event at the Trusts Arena in West Auckland, Kabuki Drops and Log fog equipment to the Cher concerts at Spark Arena, Big confetti effects for Taiwanese pop group Mayday at Trust Arena, and Kabuki drops for an All Blacks event for Vodafone.
At the end of the month we have been asked to provide G Flames and Co2 Jets for Skrillex for the Listen Up festival at Spark Arena.
All in all, a busy month for the Auckland concert and event market. Livefx is glad we can provide these services to the live entertainment and event scene in New Zealand.
