Art Piece Title: THE UNFORSEEABLE JOURNEY

Details / Description about my Work:

The unforeseeable Journey began when my father passed away, leaving my mother alone to raise me and my siblings in Samoa.
The to’oto’o and fue reminded me of my father’s strength and guidance. While the taupou (representing my mother) who carried herself with dignity and grace as she struggled to raise us.She worked tirelessly, often tired and worn out but never letting us see her pain.
Samoan patterns frame this part of my story – they hold our roots, identity and heritage.

When she moved us from her homeland (Samoa) to New Zealand – It was our butterfly moment – fragile but brave and yet full of hope.
Today the breadfruit symbolises what has grown from her sacrifice, our new life, stability and success for our family.

Around it all I pictured Maori designs representing the culture and land of our new home,
a place that has welcomed and shaped us, turning the quiet pain of our past into strength, pride and resilience.

Every careless act — every plastic wrapper, bottle, or cigarette butt — adds up, polluting the sea and threatening the beauty and balance of nature. It’s a powerful call to take responsibility, protect what we love, and always look after our ocean — because every small action makes a big difference.

Maternal love is a force that transcends time and distance. It begins the moment life stirs and continues long after words are spoken or memories fade. It is unconditional—steady through hardship, patient through mistakes, and strong enough to heal even the deepest wounds. A mother’s love does not measure or expect; it simply is. It weaves itself into every part of life—found in gentle guidance, silent prayers, and the quiet sacrifices made without recognition. Even when life changes, that
love remains—unchanging, eternal, and pure. Maternal love never ends because it is written into the very soul, echoing through generations like a heartbeat that never stops.

Art Piece Title: The Silent Cries.

Details / Description about my Work :

I am that boy in my waka (canoe) sailed on the stormy waves. The same waves that tried to drown me became the waves I learned to ride. The same people who mocked me became the voices I learned to tune out.
Life felt like an ocean
Stormy and dangerous
That shark - the people who threaten me.
Octopus- the people who trying to pull me down
Turtle- for the voices saying I was too slow and never make it in life.
Stingrays - for the shame they try to pin on me

The Samoan patterns frame this part of my story – represented my nationality, my roots and my silent cries on hardship we endured as a family.
Maori patterns in my heart to show my second home.
Every wave I rode made me stronger and now I paddle toward a bright shore and a proof that silent cries can grow into strength.
