This is SO important. Read it again. Read it out load. Read it until you believe it.

I used to be SO obsessed with my milk output at each pump. I loathed coming a crossed the β€˜freezer stash’ or β€˜morning pump’ social media posts - nothing wrong with them but it just made me feel even worse about my 40mL pump session in the morning 😭

So, remember this - save it, share it, screenshot it and come back to this when you're feeling a low wave coming on β™₯️

Milk blebs are solidified milk that block the milk pores.

Treatment: It may open on its own during feeding but if not try the following:

Soak the ni**le in warm water then gently rub it with a warm damp cloth or olive oil to soften the skin

Try to remove the skin by scraping it off with a clean finger nail or tweezers

If these measures don't work - open it with a sterile needle and express or breastfeed immediately afterwards, be sure to remove any thickened milk that has backed up in the duct. There may be a small strand or string of hardened milk come out.

Finish with soap and water wash. Then apply antibiotic ointment afterwards to prevent infection.

If it reoccurs, try:

Lecithin supplements - 1 capsule (1200mg) 3-4 times per day

After 1-2 weeks with no blockage, reduce the dosage by 1 capsule

Gently massage the ni**le with a fine defoliant in the shower each day

Massage the ar**la with grapefruit seed extract oil (a few drops of grapefruit extract in olive oil)

Don't forget to investigate the underlying cause. If left untreated it may lead to plugged ducts or mastitis.

A few important changes......

As life has become busier with motherhood, family and work I had to make quite a difficult decision around Honeysuckle.

I love the work I do here so much, and I love being that support avenue for so many who feel isolated during quite a vulnerable period - but I must admit as this is a job on the side of many other things I do, I feel I am struggling with time management quite a bit.

So, I have decided to pull our website down. For a few reasons but the main one being that I do not have the time to nurture and grow the website in a way that I had envisioned with blogs etc. I just do not have the time for it.

I will still be here and ALL sales for honeysuckle kits will be made by direct messages on socials or emails. The same goes for anyone wanting copies of our free newborn feeding guides.

There are a few more exciting announcements to come a little later on but for now that is where I am at!

Thank you all again for your continued support xx

Ok, so what's the deal with these miracle drinks that mums swear by?

Firstly, HYDRATION. It's primarily about hydration. If you drink a venti pink drink from Starbucks, you're drinking 20oz you may not have drank otherwise, right?

Secondly, think about what's IN the drink that might be helping... For the pink drink it's the coconut, which is a good fat. Good fats are great for lactation. For the oat milk, it's oatmeal, which is known to be great for lactation. Gatorade has electrolytes which help keep you hydrated.

While OVER hydration will not magically result in pumping more milk, dehydration will definitely equal less milk!!!
Now, is BLUE Gatorade better than any other color? That may be in your head, haha. πŸ˜„

Just keep in mind the sugar and caffeine content when trying these different drinks.

What is something you have tried for boost milk supply, please share and let others know if it worked :)

Hi guys!

It has been a while since I have put a little blurb out there about why I do what I do at Honeysuckle.

My name is Beheshta (Bee), I am a Pharmacist as my day job and came up with the idea of a newborn feeding kit after my own personal struggles navigating breastfeeding/mixed feeding with both my babies.

Anyone who knows me, will know that I really care about people and sometimes I probably care too much. But I love helping and making people feel more supported and less alone in the world.

I will never forget the feeling like I was failing at helping my own child to thrive, when I was meant to provide the nourishment and food source, but my body was not doing so, it made me think very poorly of myself. When in fact, I just had no idea there was so much to it. I had no idea I needed to ask for help and breastfeeding wasn't as simple as I had perceived.

Breastfeeding is a real skill, something which needs to be learnt by both mum and baby and it requires ALOT of support and patience. But so is formula feeding, mixed feeding, pumping etc. It's a lot of learning on the job, which is really hard to do postpartum when you are recovering from just birthing another human in the world.

The purpose of the kits is to better prepare and educate parents while still supporting them throughout their feeding journey - no matter which road the journey takes them on πŸ’ž

I would love to connect with you so please tell me a bit about yourself, your journey and how you found me πŸ₯°

Merry Christmas!

I feel like this photo everyday, or after every trip outside my house where I have safely managed to get both my children in and out of the car safely and back home in one piece πŸ˜…

But I feel like there are certain days in a year where I REALLY feel like phew! I did it! and I think for many Christmas and the lead up to Christmas is one of those times.

I hope you all have had a beautiful day with your loved one, especially for those who have been able to reunite and have a family Christmas again post lockdowns. And if any of you were lucky enough to be gifted a Honeysuckle Kit as a Xmas present I hope opening that gift put a big smile on your face πŸ₯°

Lots of love πŸ’ž

There is nothing wrong with wanting to fix a problem with milk supply - but it’s important to keep your mental health in check.

If increasing (or decreasing) your supply is really impacting your ability to be happy, enjoy your baby, and just enjoy life as a whole - it’s okay to make a change.

Work with an IBCLC to come up with a plan. Figure out what might be normal for you - and give yourself some grace.

It’s okay to take a step back, figure out what is reasonably in your control, grieve what might not be, and move forward with confidence.

Reposted from .breastfeedingmama - I could not have said it better myself.
