Ever wondered what happens to Bare Root Trees??
Here's a behind the scene look at the first of our winter trees arriving.
When the bare root trees arrive we pack them in bark until we are ready to bag them up. Then it's all hands on deck to get them checked, sorted and bagged up into fresh potting mix. They get watered in before being placed in a tree row to establish roots into the bag!

They might not look like much now, but neither does a Christmas Ham in June!

Why would anyone want to plant a naked tree?

It sounds like a terrible idea.

Every autumn, deciduous trees drop their leaves, stand around looking bare for a few months, and generally make a mess of your lawn.

But that's exactly what makes them brilliant.

In summer, they provide cooling shade for your home and garden. Come winter, those leaves are gone, allowing precious sunlight to warm your property and reach the plants beneath.

Before they go bare, they put on a spectacular autumn display of reds, oranges, and golds. Then they leave behind a year's supply of mulch-making material for the garden.

So while evergreen trees are working the same shift all year round, deciduous trees are changing with the seasons to give you exactly what you need, when you need it.

🌳 Jane explains why planting a naked tree" might be one of the smartest gardening decisions you'll make.

PSA: The annual migration has begun.

Each winter, the nursery's frost-tender residents mysteriously find themselves moving into the greenhouse, where conditions are warmer, the company is good, and frost is merely a rumour.

If your dahlias, citrus, succulents, tropicals or other cold-sensitive plants are still living dangerously, there's still time to get them under cover or wrapped up before the next frosty morning arrives.

Think of it as putting an extra blanket on before bed — only with fewer complaints.
