Lets celebrate Great Night Of Shiva😇
HAPPY MAHA SHIVARATRI🙏
Once, there was a cosmic event where the gods (devas) and demons (asuras) joined forces to churn the ocean to obtain the nectar of immortality (amrita). During this churning, a pot of poison (halahala) emerged from the ocean, and it was so potent that it could destroy all of creation.
Faced with the threat of the destructive poison, Lord Shiva came to the rescue. He drank the poison, but instead of swallowing it, he held it in his throat, which turned blue. This act earned him the epithet "Neelakantha," meaning the one with a blue throat.
To celebrate this event and show their gratitude to Lord Shiva for saving the universe, devotees observe Shivaratri. It is believed that praying to Lord Shiva on this auspicious night can bring spiritual blessings, cleanse sins, and lead to liberation (moksha).
During Shivaratri, devotees often fast, engage in meditation, perform rituals, and stay awake throughout the night, known as the "jaagaran." They visit Shiva temples, offer prayers, and recite hymns and mantras dedicated to Lord Shiva. The festival is marked by a sense of devotion, piety, and the belief in the power of Lord Shiva to bring about positive transformations in one's life.
