The word Rudraksha is originated and derived from HIndy Mythology and comprises two words word : "rudra" means Lord Shiva and "aksha" means eyes. Therefore, Rudraksha means eyes of lord Shiva. Rudraksha tree grows on mountains and hilly region of Nepal, Indonesia, Java, Sumatra and Burma upto 3000m from sea level. Its leaves are green in color, fruits are brown and sour in taste. It is believed that when God was meditating for welfare of humankind then emerged crying tears of the compassion. It fall in to the Earth and crystallized to form the tree that grows the Rudraksha. Rudraksha is a shield against negative energies. It is possible for some people to use negative energies to cause harm to someone else. The person who carries Rudraksha mala is believed to be protected against such negative energies.
