Artist Tuladhar is From Newar Ethnicity, The Native People of Kathmandu Valley Who Possesses Tradition of Painting From Centuries. Newar Artists Have Their Own Style of Thanka Painting Known as Paubha.

I had requested the artist to create a Mandala That Would Represent 'Nepal Mandala नेपाल मण्डला' a geographic mandala name given to a place or valley or town. Like in common Mandala Kathamndu Valley which was known in scriptures as Nepal Mandala possesses mandalic components that's represented by four holy mountain, four holy stupas, four vajrayoginis, four chenrejiks.

This Thanka is only of its kind created by the artist on my request. It may not be a matter of worship as this exact mandala is not found on tradition of mandala worship or meditation but it could be unique piece of art to keep connection with ancient Nepal.

Cost of thanka is only $ 400 + shipping (approx $70). Our first painting is sold. It took about 40 days to complete, of course artist works about half a day each day. About 90% of the cost goest to artist and materials so the thanka cost is truly reasonable. Spiritual Nepal Buddist art lovers may order. Thanks.

Hello and Namaste, Our Thanka Project Slow But Moving On. So far We Delivered 9 Different Thankas Ranging From Shakyamuni Buddha To Calm Abiding Meditation Thanka. One of our kind buyers was interested to buy 7 different pencil sketches so that she / he could paint for the final (Thanka Painting Learning / Practice). So we are very pleased with all kind people who ordered, trusted us and helped us including those who spread the word, liked the page. So the big thing is all of them who got their orders were pleased and happy about their decision.

We are talking about one single painting they choose either by just saying or seeing on website where they can get dozen other option and we finalize the one single painting and all of them turned out to be satisfying which is unlike choosing from many option from a shop. This is a proof that we can do good job. :).

Green Tara's Travel From Bouddha to the States During Challenging Times

Not many days ago, I had posted Bouddha Stupa visit photo on Facebook. I was there not only to see the holy place also to check a statue shop discovered during friend and Teacher Michael Gregory's statue searching trip late last year. I had to go there as our friend Devin Jones wanted to have Green Tara statue as a gift to his beloved Sarah Frederiksen. Despite most shops closed, the statue shop and owner Sagun was there and open.

He showed me the Tara statue but he had only one green tara left. Since no other option is shown I was almost returned and gone to another place but I didn't have another good shop owner in mind (actually a bad thing for a guide who has most clients spiritual-related). So I took the photo and sent it to Devin. It didn't even take 10 minutes for all as we both were anxious of the ongoing pandemic. His offer of tea was settled in a ship of water amidst the heat of Kathmandu.

In the next couple of days, we agreed on the same tara statue. As things were going quickly, I went to pay the money and agreed the DHL agent would pick up the statue at 3PM of the day for sending out. But he reached the shop to collect the statue couple of hours earlier. Same afternoon Bouddha circle was sealed, shops were forced to close due to COVID patients found in the area. Sagun was updating me over the phone ' the statue is taken by cargo guy, but our shops are shut now as told by the police, our area is sealed due to pandemic.'

Things went smoothly at the cargo office too as the Archaeology permission paper and things took place so quickly. And DHL collected the item for final shipping in the next chartered flight that could be on the next day or in the next week or even in a longer gap.

I had given only minimum details of all these to Devin as things were unsure. I was concerned especially because one of our friends is waiting for her things to arrive from international shipping also DHL I think more than a couple of weeks. However, in the case of Green Tara, it went all well. It reached to Deven and Sarah just on time almost in the time length of normal days prior to the pandemic. Amazing!

In Newar (Native of Ancient Nepal : Kathmandu) community Spiritual Scroll Paintings are known as Paubha. Those who would do painting are known as Chitrakar by profession later became part of their family name or clan group. In the past, such Chitrakars used to paint walls of old palaces, temples and viharas. Prem Man Chitrakar a legendry artist of Paubha and contemporary Newar Art has been recently passed away. There are a number of Paubha Artists still keep their tradition alive in the old part of Kathmandu valley.

Veteran Paubha artist, Premman Chitrakar, also known as the guardian of Paubha painting, passed away at the age of 76 on Sunday. He had been undergoing treatment in the ICU of the National Hospital in Kalanki since Thursday. He was cremated at Pashupati Aryaghat on Sunday. He had been suffering from...
