I came across this collection of vintage pictures taken in Port Isaac in the early part of the 20th century and probably well prior to the First World War. The identity of the photographer isn’t known, but the level of skill and interest is self-evident, and acknowledged with gratitude. Apart from the absence of the breakwaters, the open fields above the village, and the telephone box on Church Hill, it is remarkable how timeless and recognizable the street scenes are today. I hope they give, to all who see them, as much pleasure as they have given me.
