💀🦋 The Death’s-head Hawk Moth,
(Acherontia atropos), is one of the most mysterious insects in the world. Named after the skull-shaped marking on its thorax, this remarkable moth has fascinated people for centuries and inspired countless myths and legends.
But its strangest talent? When disturbed, it can produce an audible squeak by forcing air through its proboscis, a rare ability among moths. It is also known for raiding beehives, where it steals honey while using chemical camouflage to avoid detection by the bees. 🐝

Its metallic rainbow colors aren’t created by pigments, but by microscopic structures on its wings that bend and reflect light.
