1. The Blue Nile – A Walk Across the Rooftops (1983, 1985 reissue)
Sophisti-Pop / Art Pop with minimalist arrangements and big, romantic emotions. FFO: Prefab Sprout, Talk Talk, and the more recent Mk.gee sound.

2. Parliament – Funkentelechy Vs. The Placebo Syndrome (1977)
A classic 1977 P-Funk gem!

3. Hole – Pretty on the Inside (1991)
The debut studio album by Courtney Love’s punk band, produced by Sonic Youth’s Kim Gordon and Gumball’s Don Fleming.

4. Boredoms – Soul Discharge (1989)
Japanese Noise Rock / Dadaist Punk, named one of the best albums of the 1980s by Pitchfork. FFO: Mr. Bungle, Melt-Banana, Nurse with Wound.

5. Dr. John – Gris-Gris (1968)
One of those albums… a New Orleans rhythm & blues cult classic that blends psychedelic rock, funk, and voodoo-inspired sounds.

6. Dead Moon – Stranded in the Mystery Zone (1991)
Uncompromising Garage Rock. FFO: Wipers, The Stooges.

7. Meat Puppets – Up on the Sun (1985)
The third album from one of the more notable bands on the LA punk label SST Records. FFO: Minutemen, Hüsker Dü, Dinosaur Jr., and Osees.

8. Sonny Rollins – Worktime (1956)
A Hard Bop powerhouse from 1956, released via Prestige!

9. Diamanda Galás – Vena Cava (1993)
A live recording by the avant-garde icon, who will be celebrated at Rewire Festival next spring!

10. Fred Frith – The Technology of Tears (And Other Music for Dance and Theatre) (1988)
Experimental Avant-Rock by Fred Frith (Henry Cow), with contributions from John Zorn and Christian Marclay.

11. Tuxedomoon – Holy Wars (1985)
The fourth studio album by the experimental post-punk band Tuxedomoon, released by the eclectic and adventurous Crammed Discs label.

12. The Force Dimension – The Force Dimension (1989)
Classic Dutch EBM, released through the cult Belgian label KK Records.

+ 2. Mojave 3 – Ask Me Tomorrow & Excuses for Travellers
TIP! Around Slowdive’s Pygmalion, its members started recording more song-oriented material as Mojave 3. Their heartfelt 4AD classics are now remastered and back in print for the first time in years. For fans of: Neil Young, Townes Van Zandt, or Mazzy Star.

3. Charli XCX – Music, Fashion, Film
The follow-up to Brat sees Charli pivot towards rock, offering a fresh context for her pop vision.

4. Beth Orton – The Ground Above
Beth Orton returns with her eighth album, further expanding the atmospheric folk sound she has refined over the years.

5. Hobknobs – Helmets Off
A new lo-fi indie project from Arie van Vliet (Lewsberg) and Yaël Dekker (The Klittens) of the charming kind, echoing Beat Happening, Broadcast, or Young Marble Giants.

6. Minutemen – Double Nickels on the Dime
This classic ‘80s double album remains as fresh and adventurous as ever, effortlessly jumping between hardcore punk, post-punk, funk, free jazz, or even country energies.

7. Gena – The Pleasure Is Yours
This year’s playful, soulful collaboration between producer Karriem Riggins and singer-songwriter/producer Liv.e. FFO: Erykah Badu and Madlib.

8. Wally Badarou – Echoes
Best known for his work with Level 42 and the Compass Point All Stars, Badarou’s reissued ‘80s synth-funk still sounds remarkably fresh. FFO: Ryuichi Sakamoto, Hosono, and Grace Jones.

9. Susan Cadogan – Susan Cadogan
Classic ‘70s roots reggae/lovers rock, elevated by Lee “Scratch” Perry’s unmistakable Black Ark production.

10. Boogie Down Productions – By All Means Necessary
Reissue of the landmark 1988 album which alongside Public Enemy laid the groundwork for conscious hip-hop.

11. Popol Vuh – Einsjäger und Siebenjäger
A new vinyl edition of Popol Vuh’s most melodic album from 1974, blending krautrock with new-age sentiment.

12. 1619 Bad Ass Band – 1619 Bad Ass Band
Originally released in 1976, this almost mythical, sought-after New Jersey soul-funk gem is now brought back into print thanks to Mr Bongo.

One of the defining ‘90s R&B albums, blending New Jack Swing, soul, and hip-hop beats, and going on to influence many modern R&B artists.

3. Kelela – New Avatar
On her latest release for Warp, Kelela welcomes guitars into her R&B sound while, at times, channeling Janet Jackson, Burial, and D’Angelo.

4. SML – Spontaneous Music Live
One of the highlights of North Sea Jazz last week! On their live album, SML expand their hypnotic tracks into enthralling, ebbing-and-flowing grooves. FFO: Can’s Live in Paris 1973 and Miles Davis’ Dark Magus.

5. Detroit In Effect – Open the Vault

A recently unearthed time capsule from Detroit electro’s golden era!

6. Batu & Donato Dozzy – Exhale

The UK bass producer and Italian techno producer collaborate across generations, genres, and traditions.

The second collaboration between Panda Bear (Animal Collective) and Sonic Boom (Spacemen 3) maintains their sense of open-hearted musical playfulness and surprise.

8. Nia Archives – Emotional Junglist
FFO: UK indie, jungle breaks, Jorja Smith, and heartbreak songs.

9. Pixies – Complete B-Sides: 1988–97

Newly remastered, this collection showcases the alt-rock icons’ trademark eccentricity and features the wonderful “In Heaven” highlight, covered from Lynch’s Eraserhead soundtrack.

1. Earthquake Studio – Dub Harder Than Steel
TIP!! This UK DIY (Digital) dub grail, originally pressed in a small
run in 1993, finally returns, remastered via Real Rock Records.

2. Chanel Beads – Your Day Will Come
Their sophomore release – on repeat ever since it came out! Modern
moody music… or… digital indie folk, “cloud rock”... you name it. FFO:
Dean Blunt, Alex G.

3. Madonna – Confessions II
Madonna returns to the dancefloor with guest appearances and
contributions from Arca, Sabrina Carpenter, and Stromae. Her strongest
album in 20 years?

4. goat (jp) – Without References – Cindy Van Acker
Experimental post-rock(?) ensemble goat (jp) returns with the unique
pointillistic rhythmic micro-precision they’ve become known for.

5. Ricardo Villalobos & Mohammad Reza Mortazavi – Swamp
Villalobos runs wild over Mohammad Reza Mortazavi’s Persian tombak
hand drumming across 24 minutes of mesmerising polyrhythmic grooves.

6. Alex Zhang Hungtai – Orion-Mother
Formerly known as Dirty Beaches, the experimental composer returns
with a spiritual album that leans into industrial territory.

7. Ahmed – Writing (book) + 8. Femke Dekker – Open Field Listening
Station (book)
Two special book additions: Femke Dekker (Loma Doom) on listening as
an artistic practice, and a collection of texts on jazz ensemble حمد
(Ahmed)’s deep dive into Ahmed Abdul-Malik’s legacy.

9. Roland Kirk – The Inflated Tear
An audiophile reissue of the influential jazz multi-instrumentalist’s
