First of a new serie ultra wide fabrics!
I’ve acquired a roll of very wide fabric.
It’s woven in a diagonal twill at a wideness of 195cm! After dyeing or washing, between 180 and 190cm remain!

This piece is 240 cm long and has hand made tassels/fringes (+/-9cm each)
The wideness is 182cm and I’ve dyed this piece in a strong madder bath deep red.
The total weight is 1680grammes which gives a m2 weight of 385g
Not available

I can cut this type of fabric to your desired length and dye it in almost all colours. With or without tassels.
Pm me if you’re interested!

This Saturday you can find me in the city centre of Alpen aan den Rijn. There will be a bunch of Roman people with their tents and stands, there will be showfights and spectacle.
We will bring mostly plant-dyed stuf, also because the stand is small. If you have any requests for me, please let me know!
Yes I will bring new clavi fabrics, and I have an interesting wide twill fabric (180cm wide)which would be nice for Sagum, Paenula or toga…

Time :11 - 17 o’clock
Place : Rijnplein Alphen aan den Rijn

I’ve got the clavi fabric back in stock.
The differences are that the fabric is this time more smooth and soft, and a bit lighter in weight so even more suitable for hotter temperatures.
I kept the red clavi the same, but the blue I changed for a nice medium dark green.

I’ve measured and weighted the Green clavi fabric and the weight of that one is 190gr/m2. The wideness is about 156cm. It looks like the Red has the same properties.
Of both I have 100+ meter in stock.

Unfortunately the recent worldwide huge price increase for raw wool does affect the future prices for all types of wool. Nevertheless for this batch I was able to keep the price per m the same as last time, €36 🥳

All lengths are possible, like 260 or 220cm..
Also it’s possible for group order I cut all desired lengths and ship them to one address.

These fabrics can be made by us to a rectangular tunic, machine stitched with silk yarn (€22+fabric).

Also can be plant-dyed. Outcome shade of clavi depends on chosen colour.

I often see people offering and using wool labeled as "naturally dyed." While these vibrant colors are beautiful, there is a nuance in the process that I feel is worth sharing. 🌿
In the world of textiles, there is a growing difference between using natural dye extractsand the art of plant-dyeing from the raw source. My heart beats for the latter—the path of the ancients. 🏛️⚔️
I don’t just apply color; I strive to recreate an authentic, centuries-old craft. I work with the same raw materials used by the Greeks, the Romans, and the Vikings. My process happens in copper cauldrons over an open wood fire, just as it has for thousands of years. 🪵🔥
To me, there is a world of soul between dissolving a pre-made extract and the alchemy of the raw plant:
* The Living Source: By using whole madder roots or rhubarb roots, I extract dozens of hidden pigment nuances that a standardized concentrate simply cannot capture.
* The Elements: I manage the wood fire, the copper of my kettle, and the precise pH levels of the water to slowly coax the color from the fiber.
* The Heritage: Every thread I dye carries the weight of history and the patience of a slow, days-long immersion.
While concentrated "natural dyes" offer convenience and speed, they can miss the raw energy and depth of the plant itself. My wool isn't just colored; it is infused with smoke, history, and the untamed power of the earth. It is an authentic connection to our ancestors that you simply won't find in a factory-processed powder. ✨
How do you value the process behind the things you wear? Do you feel the difference in a piece created through fire, earth, and time? 👇
