Yucca torreyi grows in general with one trunk, occasionally it will from multiple trunks, they also branch out sometimes.
Because of its long leaves and less regular head of leaves which are upright or in various angles, it is not so popular.
The leaves are rigid and 80-140cm long and 4-5cm wide.
The Y. torreyi has in general a yellow-green colour, but an attractive blue-green form also occurs as our people have seen in the Big Bend Area in west Texas.
The inflorescence starts in a beautiful purple colour and the flowers later develop a completely creamy white and are 4,5 to 9cm long; the panicle in general does not grows outside the leaf rosette. It gets halfway the leaves.
Y. torreyi is most similar to Y. treculeana, but Y. treculeana has smooth leaf margins, or very rarely light straight filaments,
Y. torreyi has abundant curly filaments on the leaf margins. Y. torreyi occurs in northeast Mexico and the states of Texas and New Mexico and is very cold hardy, down to -15° C.

Yucca faxoniana is a large imposing plant which mainly grows in western Texas around the Sierra Blanca region and the bordering Mexican States of Coahuile and Chihuahua. Mainly the Big Bend Area, divided by the Rio Grande.
Y.faxoniana plants can reach a height of 6-10 m.
Sometimes Y.faxoniana branches out after flowering, forming two heads, growing close together. Branched trunks are rarely seen but very impressive.
The green leaves are 90-110 cm long and 5 cm in width, but in cultivation they can reach a length of 120-140 cm, forming a symmetrical head. The leaf margin has a brown line from which thin, almost non visible curled white filaments are growing.
It is cold hardy from -18°C for longer periods to -23°C for short periods.

Yucca carnerosana is a large imposing plant, often mistaken for Yucca faxoniana which mainly grows in Texas.
Y.carnerosana can reach up to 4-8 m and usually has a single trunk which, when trimmed has a average diameter of 20-30 cm.
The trunk is dark brown with irregular furrows.
Sometimes the plant branches after flowering (when about 1-2 m high), developing mostly only two heads growing close together. Branched trunks are rare.
The green leaves are 40-70 cm long and 5 cm in width, but in cultivation they can reach a length of 100 cm forming a symmetrical head.
The leaf margin shows a brown line from which thick, curling white filaments are growing.
The panicle is 100-120 cm long, and usually towering above the leaves.
The flower stalk is 5-8 cm thick and the green-white flowers are 5-8 cm long.

Y.carnerosana is found in two regions, that are wide apart from each other. The northern region extends from western Texas into the Mexican states Chihuahua and Coahuile. The southern region is found in the Mexican states of Nuevo Leon, San Luis Potosi and Zacatecas.

Y. Carnerosana is cold hardy from -12 till -15° C when kept dry.
In cool wet winter climates it is better to protect the crown against rain, because it is sensitive to rotting.

Yucca treculeana is found in several northern states of Mexico and further limited to southern Texas all the way to the coast of the Gulf of Mexico. It grows usually with a single trunk, but branches out sometimes.
It can reach a height of 2-7m.
The leaves are dark green to blue and in natural habitat an average of 80-100cm long and 5cm wide, but in cultivation they can reach lengths of 120-140cm.
For most people it is difficult to distinguish similar species, such as Y.torreyi, Y. schidigera and Y. faxoniana, but Y. treculeana is separated by its lack of abundant marginal leaf filaments.
When trimmed the trunk has a dark reddish brown colour and deep irregular furrows.
It is a good candidate for cold climates (-15°C), as to our experience over the years it recovers very often even when the head is frozen, or rotted away.

The Trachycarpus hybrid princeps × wagnerianus is an exclusive and highly sought-after hybrid palm. This cross combines the striking, silvery-white underside of the leaf (derived from the princeps) with the stiffer, more compact fan leaves and excellent wind resistance of the wagnerianus.

This princeps x wagnerianus is more special than the wagnerianus x princeps. First name is the mother plant and there are not many princeps mother plants yet to produce hybrid seeds.

Key features:
• Hardiness: Indicative to approximately -15°C to -16°C.
• Leaves: Deep green on the upper side and striking silver-blue on the underside, combined with a stiffer leaf structure that is more resistant to strong winds.
• Growth: Often exhibits a faster growth rate than the original Trachycarpus princeps.
