Unicorn alert! Last week a customer walked in to collect some info on some horns. One of these horns was an SBA low A baritone which we also have one for sale in our store. Amazing to have these rare horns side by side. Two of two hundred ever produced.

‘Inside the bigband III’, vertelconcert Basement Bigband
Meppel - Op donderdag 23 november geeft de Basement Bigband een concert in Cultureel Centrum De Plataan aan de Vledderstraat 3c in Meppel. Aanvang is om 20.00 uur en de entree is gratis. Bandleider en verteller Maarten Gal neemt het publiek na 2 succesvolle edities wederom mee op reis door Bigbandland.
Tijdens dit interactieve ‘Inside the bigband concert’ speelt de 18-koppige Basement Bigband nieuw, verfrissend repertoire van o.a. Peter Herbolzheimer, Arturo Sandoval, Billy Eilish en de Huntertones. Maarten Gal vertelt met veel plezier alle ins en outs over de bigband. Denk daarbij aan de geschiedenis, de stijl en de arrangementen. Er is gelegenheid tot het stellen van vragen en het nuttigen van een drankje.

Refreshing the oil of your horn every now and then is very important and neglected by manny. The oil on the rods and pivot screws wil collect dirt overtime and this dirty oil will cause wear on the mechanisms. One thing we are really keen on while overhauling is that ALL systems get a thorough clean before assembly. This rod (left) for the right hand keys had some pitch black oil on it and had so much wear we had to make a replacement rod (right). 🎷
