D.S.D.A. Blue Suede Shoes is the Student Dance Association in Delft for everyone who is passionate about dancing. We dance Ballroom, Argentine Tango and Swing.

Blue Suede Shoes is the student association for students in Delft who are passionate about dancing. With workshops, parties and drinks we aim to create a platform for dancing students in Delft. Moreover, Blue Suede Shoes will facilitate rooms to practice that new move or just have an extra hour of dancing every week. The incredible Jory and Lorena will join us for the Summer Edition of 𝗧𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗼 𝗖𝗮𝗳𝗲 on 𝗦𝗮𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗱𝗮𝘆 20𝘁𝗵 𝗼𝗳 𝗝𝘂𝗻𝗲!

Join us for the Pre-Summer Edition of 𝗧𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗼 𝗖𝗮𝗳𝗲 on 𝗦𝗮𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗱𝗮𝘆 16𝘁𝗵 𝗼𝗳 𝗠𝗮𝘆 for an evening of dance, music, food and warm company! As the days grow longer and warmer, let’s celebrate the start of the summer together on the dance floor.

We’ll begin the evening with a shared potluck dinner from 18:30–19:30, followed by milonga until 23:30, with music by 𝗧𝗗𝗝 𝗔𝗿𝗺𝗶𝗻!

The last Lindy Jam of this academic year is coming up so we invite you to join us and celebrate through dance and community. We will start off with a beginner tap dance workshop by Charlotte where you will learn some fundamental tap steps and rythmns. No previous experience necessary!

After the workshop we will have a potluck dinner so we invite you to bring along some delicious food to share. After the dinner we will enjoy some social dancing for the rest of the evening. We look forward to seeing you there!

Lindy Hop Classes Q4🩵💙

Lindy Hop is a fun and energetic partner dance that originated in the 1930s in Harlem, New York. It is danced to the lively rhythms of big band swing music
made famous by the orchestras of Count Basie, Duke Ellington and many others. Lucía and Andries will teach you the art of Lindy Hop and prepare you for the social dancing floor.

We want to make sure that dancers of all levels feel comfortable and have fun in our classes, so we offer three levels. The Beginner level is suitable for anyone who wants to try Lindy Hop for the first time, or wants to refresh the basics a bit. There is absolutely no previous dance experience necessary for this level. If you have completed a beginner course in Lindy Hop, we invite you to join the Intermediate I classes, and for
more experienced dancers who have been dancing for a while we have the Intermediate II level.

Not sure which level to join or whether Lindy Hop is for you at all? No problem, we got you! On the 21st of April we have a free try-out class where anyone can try any level for free to get a feel for the classes. After the try-out class the classes will run for seven
weeks. The classes take place at De Hofstee at Sandinoweg 149 in Delft, always on Tuesday from 19:15 to 22:10. You can sign up for the try-out and classes on our website at: https://dsda.nl/hours-classes/

What better way to celebrate Easter and the start of spring, than with some dancing! At our upcoming Lindy Jam we will kick things off with a workshop on basket variations taught by Sahir and Ninet. The workshop is intermediate level, so having taken a beginner Lindy Hop course is recommended to join.

We will continue with a potluck dinner, for which we invite you to bring a dish to share. After you have refueled during the dinner, put some spring in your step and have an egg-celent time on the dance floor during the social dance.

𝘞𝘩𝘰 𝘥𝘰𝘦𝘴𝘯’𝘵 𝘭𝘪𝘬𝘦 𝘭𝘪𝘷𝘦 𝘮𝘶𝘴𝘪𝘤?

For our 𝗧𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗼 𝗖𝗮𝗳𝗲́ on 𝟭𝟴𝘁𝗵 𝗔𝗽𝗿𝗶𝗹, we warmly welcome our old friends 𝗟𝗲𝗻𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝗛𝘂𝗮𝗻𝗴 (vocals), 𝗪𝗶𝗺 𝗪𝗮𝗿𝗺𝗮𝗻 (piano), 𝗦𝘁𝗲𝗳𝗮𝗻 𝗕𝗿𝘂𝗻𝗻𝗲𝗿 (bass), and touring musician from Austria 𝗧𝗼𝗯𝗶𝗮𝘀 𝗞𝗼𝗰𝗵𝘀𝗲𝗱𝗲𝗿 (bandoneon) for a live music performance.

𝗖𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗵𝘆𝗮 𝗧𝗼𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗼 will not only be returning as our DJ for the evening but will also be giving a workshop in leading techniques for followers who would like to try a reversed role.

Tango Café is turning 𝟵 𝘆𝗲𝗮𝗿𝘀 this month and you are invited to celebrate with us on Saturday, 𝟮𝟭𝘀𝘁 𝗠𝗮𝗿𝗰𝗵. We will start the night with a beginner-/intermediate-level workshop by our amazing class teachers 𝘓𝘶𝘤𝘪́𝘢 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘓𝘰𝘶𝘪𝘴. After sharing a delicious meal, we take to the dance floor to the tunes of 𝘛𝘋𝘑 𝘓𝘶𝘤𝘪́𝘢.

𝗪𝗼𝗿𝗸𝘀𝗵𝗼𝗽 “𝗟𝗼𝘀𝘁 𝗶𝗻 𝗧𝗿𝗮𝗻𝘀𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻”
In Argentine Tango, not everything goes according to plan — and that’s exactly where the magic lives. This workshop explores the Cross System, the hidden layer of Tango that appears when one of the dancers takes an extra step. You’ll discover unusual ways to enter it, tools to adapt when it catches you off guard, and the subtle art of two-way communication — where the follower can propose and the leader can receive. We will develop our body awareness through specific exercises and work with movements like walks, ochos, and rebotes. Come with curiosity, leave with a completely different idea of what a “mistake” means on the dance floor.

The March Lindy Jam is just around the corner and we have an exciting evening planned for you. We will kick off the Jam with a Solo Jazz workshop by Else. This will be followed by a cozy potluck dinner and as always we will have our social dance.

Else is the founder of World of Jazz, a dance school dedicated to celebrating jazz in all its forms. In her classes, she combines musicality, technique, and creativity, creating a supportive space where dancers can deepen their improvisation skills and feel confident in their own expression.

Authentic Jazz is the solo dance language of the jazz era, developed in African-American communities alongside jazz music. Rooted in rhythm, improvisation and individual expression, it sits at the heart of Lindy Hop culture.

In this class, Else invites dancers to listen deeply, play with timing, and explore how solo jazz can enrich their musicality, groove, and freedom on the dance floor.

Please bring a dish to share with everyone at the potluck dinner, which will take place after the workshop. Hopefully the dinner will reenergize you because after the potluck it is time for social dancing!

Lindy Hop Try-Outs Recap

Last Tuesday we kicked off a new quarter of classes with a free Try-Out. Check out these photos to get an impression of our classes!

In the beginner class new dancers made first contact with Lindy Hop and learned the basic steps and rhythm, as well as some first moves such as the send-out!
Our teachers Lucia and Andries started the Intermediate I course with some recap exercises for the foundational moves and class takers were encouraged to experiment and come up with their own combos.
The more advanced Intermediate II level started out with a lesson on dancing at different tempos.

Join us for the Cozy Chocolate Milk Ballroom Party coming Friday! ☕🍫

This is your call to 𝗷𝗼𝗶𝗻 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗶𝗻𝘃𝗶𝘁𝗲 𝗮𝗹𝗹 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗳𝗿𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗱𝘀 who always wanted to start dancing. We will start with a beginner-friendly workshop in Rumba, a passionate Latin dance. Afterwards, we’ll enjoy a night on the dance floor and some delicious sips of chocolate milk. Don’t spend too much time on the sideline though as there is a prize awaiting the person who dances with the most people that night!
