Making innovations in hand grinders is hard.

However the folks from Orphan Espresso seem to have managed. We proudly introduce the Apex.

This innovative manual grinder focuses aroud what's known as "ghost" burrs. These burrs are unlike anything ever seen before. These knobby grinding discs are usually a popular component in bulk grinders.

Orphan Espresso has built the Apex around these burrs to provide a grinder that performs remarkabely on everything but espresso. With the 75 mm burrs, when turned at an appropriate speed, coffee beans are cracked/cut into smaller pieces with a lower percentage in fines and dust.

To get a better result the burrs are put at an angle. This slows down the potential burr speeds which in turn produces less fines and dust. To provide a smooth grinding action, the development team installed a planetary gear.

This is grinder is really well designed and makes for a splendid addition to our grinder range.
