Perfectly reflecting the conference theme “Transformations and Potentials”, Graz showed its springtime charm during the 3rd DACHS Conference, bringing together librarians from Austria, Germany, South Tyrol and Switzerland at the University Library Graz. Our Sales Manager, Laurin Dietrich, enjoyed the weather nearly as much as the inspiring presentations and insightful conversations.

Last week, our sales team traveled through Switzerland, taking moments between meetings to appreciate the scenery and the art that shape the cities they visited.

We are traveling through Middle Germany this week, visiting libraries across Northern Hessen and Southern Niedersachsen. Along the way, a stop in Marburg offered a quiet moment with this book sculpture, adding a bit of inspiration to the journey.

Erasmus Boekhandel supports the goals of the EU Deforestation Regulation (EUDR), but we are concerned about its disproportionate impact on the book trade, libraries and the academic world. Books are already produced through sustainable supply chains and represent a low-risk product, yet the EUDR introduces significant administrative burdens that threaten access to knowledge, cultural diversity, and the viability of bookshops across Europe.

We urge policymakers to realign the EUDR with the Commission’s original proposal, which rightly excluded printed books from its scope. Let’s protect both our forests and Europeans’ access to literature, culture, and information.

The European & International Booksellers Federation (EIBF) has also articulated this position in its own statement, which is attached.

📍 Nantes, for the ADBU Congress 2025!

This year’s theme: how university libraries can stand out and stay true to their identity in a world overflowing with messages and media.
Great to exchange ideas and see how colleagues are rethinking communication in higher education.

Great weather for our Sales Manager who's visiting customers in Hamburg and all of Northern Germany this week. Fittingly for a city shaped by wind and water, he passed by Hans Ruwoldt's Die Windsbraut (“The Wind Bride”), a sculpture that takes its name and inspiration from the mythic whirlwind spirit present in German folklore.
