Cubana Chief Priest Stuns FedPoly Nekede with ₦72m Scholarship for 1,000 Students
Celebrity entrepreneur and philanthropist, Pascal Chibuike Okechukwu, popularly known as Cubana Chief Priest, has awarded a massive ₦72 million scholarship to 1,000 students of Federal Polytechnic Nekede, in a landmark gesture that has electrified the institution and transformed lives.
The scholarship, unveiled during his visit to the campus on Monday, was formally presented to the Rector, Dr. Basilia Nkemdilim Igbokwe, and principal officers of the institution, marking one of the largest individual educational interventions in the school’s history.
Cubana Chief Priest, who received a warm reception at the Rector’s office, said his decision was driven by his passion for education and commitment to empowering young people.
“As a proud friend of FedPoly Nekede, I am honoured to return and give back to a school I deeply love,” he said. “Last academic session, I supported 300 students with scholarships. This year, I am expanding it to 1,000 students because I believe education remains the key to unlocking opportunities.”
He described the ₦72 million donation, tagged the Cubana Chief Priest Scholarship, as the beginning of a long-term vision to support students and contribute to the growth of the institution.
Present at the event were top management staff, including the Registrar, Mr. Ugochukwu Stanley Njoku; Bursar, Mrs. Chinyere Adanne Ojiuko; Librarian, Dr. Charles Obichere; and Dean of Students Affairs, Dr. Paul Saint Christopher, alongside other directors and officials.
In her remarks, the Rector, Dr. Igbokwe, expressed deep appreciation for the gesture, noting that the philanthropist’s previous intervention had already changed many lives.
She recalled emotional scenes of students shedding tears of joy upon receiving scholarships, describing the latest donation as a powerful demonstration of compassion and leadership.
“Your generosity is truly inspiring. You have lifted finan
