Following a conversation with DHL over the weekend regarding non-conformities in shipping details that are violating DHL services regulations and custom regulations across different countries, issues that include the following:
1. IPR violation, poor shipment description.
2. Valuation manipulations
3. Line-item ordering of items in a shipment.
These violations are viewed as serious breaches that government agencies (especially customs organisations) across the world now frown at.
For these reasons going forward, all DHL shipments should now have clear and proper descriptions of items, individual item valuations, and proper declaration of non-made in Nigeria items.
Shipments that do not carry enough information for both DHL and customs officials to work with might experience delays, holding and even an RTO situation (Return-To-Origin).
