Chapter 107 : The Sacred Ground And The Luna Ceremony part 2
As the full moon reached its peak in the night sky, casting a silvery glow upon the Sacred Ground, a hush fell over the gathered pack members. The night was still, save for the distant sound of the river flowing and the occasional crackling of the ceremonial bonfire.
The anticipation in the air was almost tangible and a mixture of excitement, reverence, and curiosity. The pack had witnessed the fall of the old Alphas, the rise of the new, and now, they were about to witness the crowning of the Lunas, a sacred event that would mark a new era for the entire pack.
Then, from deep within the trees, the sound of distant drums echoed, slow and rhythmic, signaling the beginning of the ceremony. The drums, played by the Elders, carried an ancient melody that had been used for centuries to summon the spirits of the ancestors, invoking their presence to bless the nightâs events.
A procession of pack warriors, dressed in ceremonial black robes with silver embroidery, emerged from the shadows, carrying torches that flickered like stars against the dark forest. They moved in a synchronized rhythm, their steps perfectly aligned with the steady beat of the drums.
The first to step forward was Sebastian, the new Alpha of the White Moon Pack. His tall, muscular frame was clad in a deep navy blue cloak, fastened at the shoulder with a silver wolf-head clasp. His sharp eyes shone with pride as he turned toward the entrance of the Sacred Ground.
From the opposite side, his mate, Nyla, emerged. She was a vision of ethereal beauty, wearing a flowing white gown adorned with silver embroidery that shimmered under the moonlight. A delicate crown of moonflowers rested upon her golden-brown hair, and a soft glow surrounded her, as though the moon itself had blessed her presence.
Sebastian extended his hand, and Isabella took it with a graceful nod, their bond undeniable as they stood before the pack.
Then came Oliver, the new Alpha of the Silver Moon Pack. His striking presence commanded attention, his dark eyes holding the weight of his new responsibility. Dressed in a sleek black cloak, he carried himself with the confidence of an Alpha who had earned his place.
From the shadows, his mate, Evelyn, stepped forward. She was adorned in a gown of silver silk, her long raven-black hair cascading down her back. She moved with the grace of a queen, her piercing bright yellow eyes locking onto Oliverâs as she reached his side.
As the two new Lunas stood before their respective Alphas, the Elders raised their hands in silent blessing, the energy of the pack shifting as the bond between each pair was acknowledged.
Just as the murmurs of excitement began to settle, the drums grew louder, their rhythm more intense.
The air grew heavier, charged with an invisible force. Every wolf in the Sacred Ground instinctively lowered their heads, their bodies recognizing the immense presence approaching.
And then, he arrived.
Jayden. The Supreme Alpha.
He stepped forward from the darkness, his aura unmatched, his very presence commanding absolute dominance. He wore a long black cloak, lined with deep crimson, the color of power and blood. The Supreme Alphaâs golden eyes glowed under the moonlight, their intensity sending a shiver through even the strongest warriors.
Behind him, a line of elite warriors followed, their faces emotionless, their posture rigid. Unlike the other Alphas, Jayden walked alone. No Luna beside him.
Yet.
The pack held their breath, waiting.
Would the Supreme Alpha finally reveal his mate? Would the Luna of the entire pack step forward?
But Jayden simply walked forward, his expression unreadable as he approached the Elder Stone, standing before the gathered pack.
He raised his head, his piercing gaze sweeping across the wolves before him.
"Tonight, we welcome the new Lunas," he spoke, his deep voice resonating through the Sacred Ground. "Those who stand beside the Alphas, thier future and thier strength as well as thier equals"
His words carried power, and the pack responded with a unified howl, a show of respect and acknowledgment.
But as the howls faded, the unspoken question remained in the air.
Where was his Luna?
And why had he not introduced her yet?
After Jayden finished his speech, he moved towards the large ceremonial chair at the center of the Sacred Ground. The chair was massive and intricately carved, made of dark oak with ancient symbols etched into its surface, representing the power of the Supreme Alpha. As he lowered himself onto the chair, his piercing golden eyes scanned the crowd before himâwolves from every corner of the territory, both old and young, all present as required by tradition.
This was a momentous event, one that every wolf in the pack had to witness. The crowning of the new Lunas was a sacred rite, and no one, regardless of status, was permitted to miss it.
Seated beside Jayden was his twin brother, Kayden, a man whose resemblance to Jayden was almost identical, except for the distinct energy he carried. While Jaydenâs aura radiated dominance, Kayden had a calm but authoritative presence, a leader in his own right. Beside Kayden sat his mate, Luna Hazel, a woman of elegance and quiet strength.
To Jaydenâs left, Dexter stood with Roland, and Xander. Kayden's Beta and Gamma. They stood with sharp, attentive gazes, their presence a reminder of the Supreme Alphaâs unwavering control over the wolves. To his right, Ryder sat, a small distance from Hazel.
As the new Alpha of the Blue Moon Pack, Ryderâs presence was necessary, even though he had yet to find his mate. He remained silent, his expression unreadable, his eyes flickering between the ongoing ceremony and the wolves around him.
As the ceremony progressed, the new Alphas and their Lunas stood in the center of the Sacred Ground, receiving their blessings from the Elders. The air was thick with reverence, yet at the back of the gathering, a quiet exchange took place.
Xander nudged Dexter, catching his attention.
"What?" Dexter asked, raising an eyebrow at him, arms crossed over his broad chest.
A smirk played on Xanderâs lips. "How does it feel to be a Beta, huh?"
At the question, Dexter grinned, his chest swelling with satisfaction.
"Feels good," he admitted, nodding slightly. "I can't wait to start my Beta duties."
The excitement in Dexterâs voice was unmistakable. The upgrade in his rank meant everything to him. He was no longer just a Gammaâhe had risen in the hierarchy, taking the position of Beta, one of the most trusted and respected roles in the pack.
More than that, it meant standing beside Jayden. It meant fighting alongside the Supreme Alpha, training harder, growing stronger, and leading warriors into battle.
But while the new position was thrilling, there was something else that made Dexter even happier.
In just one week, after Hailey graduated from college, along with Muna and their friends, he would finally bring his mate to the pack.
The very thought of it made his heart race with anticipation.
It was all he had been waiting for.
Dexter was lost in thought, his mind drifting far away from the noise around him. His mind drifting away to the moment he would finally bring Hailey to the pack. He wasnât paying attention to anything Xander was saying until a sharp, unexpected pain shot through his arm.
SMACK !
âAre you even listening to me?!â Xander snapped, his voice filled with frustration as he pulled his fist back.
Dexter winced, rubbing the spot where Xander had punched him. âHuh? What did you say?â he asked, his expression dazed.
Xander let out an exasperated sigh, rolling his eyes. âUgh⊠Forget it,â he muttered, clearly irritated but deciding it wasnât worth repeating himself.
Before Dexter could respond, the ceremony shifted, bringing everyoneâs focus back to the center of the Sacred Ground.
The ceremony concluded, the grand event marking the rise of the new Alphas and their Lunas finally drawing to a close. A sense of pride and unity spread through the pack, their cheers and howls filling the night air. However, the most anticipated moment had yet to comeâthe introduction of the Supreme Alphaâs Luna. The woman who would stand beside the most powerful Alpha of them all. The supreme Luna.
A hush fell over the crowd as Jayden rose from his chair, his golden eyes surveying the assembled wolves. His presence alone commanded respect, and without needing to raise his voice, the entire pack turned their full attention to him.
Somewhere in the inner chambers of the ceremonial hall, Muna took in deep, shaky breaths.
Her hands clenched the flowing fabric of her ceremonial gown, her heart pounding hard against her ribs. The weight of the moment settled upon herâthis was it. The moment where she would stand beside Jayden, not just as his mate, but as his Luna.
Munaâs heart pounded against her chest, the rhythmic thudding drowning out the sounds around her. She took in deep, shaky breaths, trying to calm the nervous energy coursing through her veins. The weight of a hundred gazes was nothing compared to the knowledge that, in mere moments, she would step forward, standing as the Luna of the Supreme Alpha himself.
Her throat felt dry, and despite the warm glow of the ceremonial torches lining the sacred ground, a cold shiver ran down her spine.
Sensing her anxiety, Danielle and Sharon leaned in closer, their presence a comforting shield against the overwhelming emotions threatening to consume her.
âBreathe, Muna,â Danielle whispered, her voice soft yet firm.
âYou look absolutely breathtaking,â Sharon added, her lips curving into a reassuring smile. âThe whole pack is going to be stunned when they see you.â
Danielle nodded in agreement. "More than stunning. You look like a true Luna."
Muna exhaled, forcing a small, nervous chuckle. âEasy for you to say,â she murmured. âYouâre not the one about to stand in front of hundreds of wolves.â
Danielle playfully nudged her. âNo, but you are, and you were born for this moment.â
Muna glanced at both of them, grateful for their support. It meant everything to her that they were here, despite the tension their presence stirred within the pack. Danielle, a witch, and Sharon, a vampire, werenât exactly the most welcomed guests among the wolves. Their existence within the packâs sacred grounds was only tolerated because the Supreme Alpha himself had granted them passage.
Muna had noticed the wary glances thrown their way, the hushed murmurs, the cautious stares. Some wolves outright avoided them, their distaste barely concealed. But none dared to act against them. Not when Jayden, the Supreme Alpha, had spoken. His word was law, and his protection over them was absolute.
And if anyone so much as thought of going against the Supreme Alphaâs word, they would be making a grave mistake.
But unlike Danielle and Sharon, Hailey was not here.
She had wanted to come. She had begged to come.
But her parents had refused.
They were terrified. Afraid of what might happen if she stepped foot into the pack too soon. Afraid that something could go wrong.
And so, Hailey had no choice but until her graduation was over and she could finally join Dexter in the pack where she belonged.
But even from afar, Hailey knew that this moment was monumental.
Because tonight, the Supreme Luna would be introduced to the world.
Muna glanced at herself in the mirror one more time. The dress she wore was of deep crimson and black, colors symbolizing strength and royalty among their kind. The fabric clung elegantly to her form, adorned with silver embroidery of the Moon Goddessâs emblem. Her long dark curls cascaded down her back, glistening under the soft light.
She should feel powerful. She should feel ready.
But instead, she felt like her legs might give out any second.
Her fingers trembled slightly as she adjusted the silver Lunaâs pendant resting against her collarbone.
"What if they don't accept me?" she finally whispered.
Danielle immediately scoffed, shaking her head. "The Supreme Alpha chose you, Muna. Anyone who dares challenge that decision would be asking for death "
Sharon placed a reassuring hand on Munaâs shoulder. "Besides, no one can deny how breathtaking you look. The moment you step out there, theyâll know you were meant for this."
Muna let out another breath, trying to calm the storm inside her.
Muna sighed. âI wouldnât have gone through with this without you two by my side.â
Sharon gave her a knowing look. âYou wouldâve. Youâre stronger than you think.â
Just then, a sharp voice rang across the gathering, silencing the crowd. The Supreme Alphaâs deep, commanding tone echoed through the air, demanding attention.
âCome forward, my Luna.â
Muna froze.
This was it.
The moment she had been preparing for, the moment she had feared, yet the moment she had long awaited.
Her breath caught in her throat, and for a brief second, her mind went blank. Her fingers curled around the edge of her gown, her palms damp with nervous sweat.
Danielle and Sharon gave her a final reassuring squeeze.
âGo,â Danielle urged.
âYouâve got this,â Sharon added.
Summoning every ounce of courage she had, Muna straightened her spine, took a deep breath, and she finally walked out of the chamber and started walking along the long pathway decorated with white roses while holding her dress so she wouldn't step on it while walking. She gulped as she tried her best to avoid the gazes upon her while trying to focus ahead.
The crowd parted as she moved, all eyes locking onto her. Some gazes held awe, others curiosity, and a few resentment. But none of it mattered.
Because at the end of the path, standing tall and proud, was Jaydenâthe Supreme Alpha.
Waiting for her.
