Lagos Police Boss Orders Clampdown On Phone Thieves

The Lagos State Commissioner of Police, CP Adegoke Fayoade, has ordered increased security architecture and patrols as part of its effort to stop the rise in phone theft in the state.

PUNCH Online reported last week that a Nigerian film director, Biodun Stephen, in a viral video reported the increase in cases of phone theft where victims have to pay to retrieve their phones.

The command's Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, in a statement on Monday, disclosed that Fayoade warned that Divisional Police Officers in whose area of responsibility such an incident occurs again would be severely sanctioned.
