The General Overseer of Redeemed Christian Church of God, Pastor Enoch Adeboye, has faulted men with braided hair and women sporting false eyelashes and heavy makeup.

Expressing his discontent with the trend among church workers, Adeboye made it clear that such styles will no longer be tolerated on RCCG altars.

In an address at the church’s 72nd annual convention, which ended Sunday August 11, his comments highlighted his disbelief at the rising trend of these fashion choices among church members.

This edition of the convention with the theme “Heaven” started Monday, August 5, and ended on Sunday, August 11, 2024, at The Redemption City, Mowe, Ogun State (Lagos-Ibadan Way).

He said, “In Yorubaland, the only men who braid hair are the priests of Sango, the god of thunder. They say this is a new age and that we must be adaptable to what is going on. To continue as Sango priests? Not in this mission. Even after I’m gone, it will still not happen.”

According to Church Times, Adeboye said further, “Take this word from me. When we find anybody among pastors; particularly female pastors, made up to look like a representative of Nollywood; we will walk her off the altar.”

While pleading for forgiveness if he was too harsh, he said, ‘You may not like it. If you are my children, you can’t kill me. Do you know why men don’t makeup? I mean, real men. It’s because we have what is called a superiority complex. We stand before the Lord and say, ‘God, You did a good job creating us. You made no mistake.'”

He stated that even men with bald heads still look very handsome, adding, however, that some people just want to appear false.

“When you begin to fix false nails, I wonder what you want to achieve – If God wanted to make you a bird, He would have given you a false nail and false eyelashes,” he added..

My message to the young and the young at heart today being International Youth Day:

It’s a day to recognize all the unique gifts that young people bring to this world. Among others, these include your boundless enthusiasm, your creativity, your unwearied quest for social justice, and your love for God.

*Please in everything you do, ensure you do not hurt innocent people.*

As youth and the young at hearts, be happy while you are young, and let your heart give you joy in the days of your youth. Follow the ways of your heart and whatever your eyes see, but know that for all these things God will bring you into judgment.

So then, banish anxiety from your heart and cast off the troubles of your body, for youth and vigor are meaningless.

Stay focus, resilience, creative, ready to learn and serve. May the good Lord continue to strengthen you, guide you, give you wisdom and knowledge to excel in what you do to glorify God in Jesus name.

*Happy International youth day 2024.*

PASSION WEEK (HOLY WEEK)

Read: Matthew 26:17–30; Mark 14:12–26; Luke 22:7–23

In an upper room Jesus prepared both himself and his disciples for his death. He gave the Passover meal a new meaning. The loaf of bread and cup of wine represented his body soon to be sacrificed and his blood soon to be shed. And so he instituted the “Lord’s Supper.” After singing a hymn they went to Gethsemane, where Jesus prayed in agony, knowing what lay ahead for him.

Once upon a time, in the vibrant land of Nigeria, where the sun kissed the earth with warmth and the rhythm of life flowed like the mighty Niger River, there existed a tapestry of stories woven by the hands of history.

In the heart of Lagos, the bustling city that never slept, leaders emerged—some noble, others cunning, but all leaving their indelible mark on the nation. Let me share with you a tale of courage, ambition, and the intricate dance between power and responsibility.

𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐑𝐢𝐬𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐂𝐡𝐢𝐞𝐟 𝐎𝐛𝐢:

Chief Obi was a man of vision. His eyes, like polished onyx, saw beyond the horizon. Born in the dusty streets of Kano, he rose from humble beginnings to become a prominent politician. His charisma swayed crowds, and his promises echoed through the air like the call of the muezzin. “Education for all!” he declared, as he built schools and libraries across the nation. But behind the scenes, Chief Obi played a dangerous game—navigating the treacherous waters of corruption and compromise. His legacy would forever be etched in the annals of Nigeria’s history.

𝙌𝙪𝙚𝙚𝙣 𝘼𝙢𝙞𝙣𝙖’𝙨 𝙇𝙚𝙜𝙖𝙘𝙮:

In the ancient city of Zaria, Queen Amina ruled with an iron fist. Her regal presence commanded respect, and her wisdom was sought by kings and scholars alike. She fortified the city walls, protecting her people from invaders. Yet, her heart harbored a secret—a forbidden love for a rival prince. Their clandestine meetings beneath the baobab tree were whispered about in hushed tones. When war threatened to tear their worlds apart, Queen Amina faced an impossible choice: duty or desire?

𝐆𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐥 𝐎𝐥𝐮’𝐬 𝐑𝐞𝐛𝐞𝐥𝐥𝐢𝐨𝐧:

The military barracks in Abuja held secrets darker than the night. General Olu, battle-scarred and weary, had seen too much bloodshed. He longed for a Nigeria free from corruption, where justice prevailed. When the corrupt regime tightened its grip, General Olu rallied his troops. The night of the coup was electric—the smell of gunpowder, the taste of revolution. As dawn broke, he stood before the nation, promising a new era. But power, once seized, had a way of consuming even the noblest hearts.

𝕿𝖍𝖊 𝕯𝖆𝖓𝖈𝖊 𝖔𝖋 𝕯𝖊𝖒𝖔𝖈𝖗𝖆𝖈𝖞:

And so, Nigeria danced—a tango of democracy and autocracy. Leaders rose and fell, leaving footprints in the sands of time. Some danced with grace, lifting their people toward progress. Others stumbled, their missteps echoing through generations. The people, resilient and hopeful, yearned for stability, for leaders who would honor their trust.

𝗘𝗽𝗶𝗹𝗼𝗴𝘂𝗲:

As the sun dipped below the savannah, casting a golden hue upon the land, Nigeria’s story continued. Her leaders, flawed and magnificent, shaped her destiny. They grappled with power, wrestled with conscience, and left their legacy—a mosaic of triumphs and tragedies. And in the hearts of her people, the spirit of Nigeria burned bright—a beacon of resilience, unity, and the eternal hope for a better tomorrow.

And so, dear reader, let us turn the page and discover what lies beyond the horizon, for Nigeria’s story is still being written..
