In 1957, the Federation of Malaya (today’s Peninsula Malaysia) gained independence from the British, after being colonised for 446 years (1511 - 1957) by the Portuguese in 1511, British in 1786 and 1945, Japanese in 1941.
As our forefathers has worked hard to gained our independence and to build the country as it is, we continue to celebrate the achievements and to continue growing in spirit of Merdeka.
With ‘independence’ in mind, we would also like to share and show solidarity with Palestine in our hearts; and we hope that there will be a ceasefire.
Merdeka!
