Hoseh Liao! 🐎✨

Kicking off the Year of the Horse with a fresh, handmade single bed set with the materials provided by our teacher. Followed the instructional designs and calculations to finish this one bed sheet, pillowcase, and bolster cover just in time for the celebration! 🧧

Added some custom embroidery details to the edges for that extra huat. 🧵🌸 The colors matched the mood perfectly—bold, bright, and ready for 2026! 😂💖

A beautiful fusion of two cultures:
Vietnam X Sarawak

Spent a full week at Wisma Wanita (Jan 19–23) diving into the art of making the Vietnam dress.
This course was such a rewarding challenge. I went from drafting the full pattern from scratch to seeing the final outcome come to life.

To give it a personal touch, I added traditional Buriek—bringing a bit of Sarawakian heritage to the details. So happy with how this fusion turned out.

I wasn’t sure about learning via screen, but I officially leveled up my skills with Nadi X Mahir Jahit. From mastering basics to drafting my own patterns, I finally finished this 2-way apron! 🍳🌸

Love that I can swap between the minimalist cream and the floral print. Who says you can’t learn technical skills from home? 🏠✂️

Throwback to where it all began 🧵👜

Back in 4–5 Mac 2023, I attended my very first hands-on sewing class — a 2-day tote bag making workshop at Kolej Komuniti Kuching Kolej Komuniti Kuching.

From learning how to cut fabric properly, stitch straight lines (not always straight 😆), to finally holding my own finished tote bag… it was such a meaningful experience. This class sparked my confidence and love for sewing, and looking back now, I’m so grateful I took that first step.

Thankful for the patient instructors, supportive classmates .choo , and the opportunity to learn something new with my own hands. Every journey truly starts with one stitch 🪡💙

Heartfelt thanks to the instructors for their guidance, dedication, and patience throughout the learning process. I am also truly grateful to Yayasan Hasanah and Kenyalang Skills Centre for this invaluable opportunity, which allowed me to complete my first Baju Kurung and my first Buriek pattern, with the help and support of my friends. It is truly a privilege to learn and cherish Sarawak’s very own heritage art, Buriek.

Feeling pretty good about my sewing progress. 🌟 Just finished my second project, and I’m glad I could follow my teacher’s tips to put together these retro polka dot pyjamas with a relaxed Hawaiian collar. They turned out fitting nicely and really comfy, ideal for lazy weekends or just chilling at night. 🛌✂️ Happy with how it came out! The collar was for sure the trickiest part to get right. Grateful for the help—looking forward to the next project!

I’m just a beginner dipping my toes into sewing! 😊 I signed up for a tailoring class back on November 7th last year and I’ve been slowly learning the basics—like taking measurements and drafting simple patterns. It took me 4 weekly sessions to finish my very first dress, and I even tried a few small changes on my own. I’m honestly so surprised and happy with how it turned out—nothing fancy, but it’s comfy and ready for the festive vibes. 💚 Hope to keep improving!
