Meet Kak Nelly, the heart behind our Nelly Collection.

In the early days of Earth Heir, our founder Sasi travelled across Malaysia in search of local artisans — and Kak Nelly was the first Malaysian artisan she collaborated with.

This post is a tribute to Kak Nelly — for her support, her belief, and the role she played in shaping our journey. We are forever grateful 🤍

Today, her daughter Grace continues her legacy.

A connection we will always carry with us.

Did you know our Nelly Collection is named after Kak Nelly? 🌏

One of the first weavers we ever met, Kak Nelly holds a special place in the Earth Heir story. In the early days — after receiving the British Council | Arthur Guinness Foundation Social Enterprise Award — our founder Sasi travelled across Southeast Asia, still unaware of the depth of artisan communities within Malaysia beyond batik and songket.

Kak Nelly became the very first artisan in Malaysia she built a relationship with — a connection that would shape everything that followed.

We are so proud and grateful to have worked with her, and even more honoured to call her a friend.

This video is a tribute — a loving memory of Kak Nelly, whose contribution helped grow Earth Heir into what it is today.

Meet Kak Nelly — one of the earliest artisans we worked with at the beginning of Earth Heir 🌏

The Nelly collection was named in her honour, inspired by one of the first weavers we had the privilege of meeting. A skilled Kenyah craftswoman from Sarawak, Borneo, her work carried both heritage and heart.

More than a collaborator, Kak Nelly became a dear friend to us.

This video is a tribute — a loving memory of someone who played a part in shaping Earth Heir into what it is today.

Thank you, Kak Nelly, for your craft, your spirit, and your legacy.
