DAILY SNAPSHOT: Total Cases crossed 28.50 million at 7:00 pm with more than 143,500 New Cases reported since our last update as the Omicron variant continues to sweep across Southeast Asia.
๐ป๐ณ Vietnam reported 91,916 New Cases of COVID-19 in the past 24 hours, down from 103,126. Active Cases in the ASEAN member state dropped to 3.61 million, down from 3.71 million previously. The health authorities reported 48 New Deaths in the past 24 hours, down from 62, resulting in Total Deaths in Vietnam climbing to 42,306.
๐น๐ญ Thailand logged 81 New Deaths from COVID-19 and 24,635 New Cases during the previous 24 hours. Of the New Cases, 24,570 were in the general population, 31 among prison inmates and 34 imported cases. The 81 New Deaths were between the ages of 9 months and 94 years and included 1 Myanmar national. The 24-hour period also saw 25,753 Recoveries discharged from hospitals.
๐ฒ๐พ Malaysiaโs Ministry of Health (MOH) reported 16,863 New Cases in the past 24 hours, down from 20,923 previously. Total Cases logged in the country now stand at more than 4.13 million with 3.87 million Total Recoveries to date. Malaysia recorded no New Deaths, resulting in Total Deaths remaining at 34,751.
๐ธ๐ฌ Singaporeโs Ministry of Health (MOH) logged 4,848 New Cases in the past 24 hours, down from 6,434. 4 New Deaths were reported, down from 7, resulting in Total Deaths climbing to 1,250. Active Cases in the island state have dipped below 54,000 from 56,500+ previously.
๐ฎ๐ฉ Indonesia reported 2,798 New Cases of COVID-19 today, down from 3,077 yesterday. The ASEAN member state has now logged over 5.72 million Total Recoveries while Active Cases in the Republic have dipped to 122,000+ from 129,500+. Total Deaths stand at 154,774 in the populous archipelago with 104 New Deaths, up from 100 yesterday.
๐ฑ๐ฆ Lao reported 1,263 New Cases, down from 1,466 yesterday, taking Total Cases logged since the beginning of the pandemic to 169,000+. Lao reported 1 New Death, down from 6, resulting in Total Deaths climbing to 661. Active Cases have climbed to 6,500+ from 4,500+ while Total Recoveries now stand at 162,000+.
๐ง๐ณ Brunei reported 791 New Cases, down marginally from 792 yesterday, taking Total Cases in the country to 132,000+ with 6,000+ Active Cases, down from 6,500+ yesterday. Total Deaths in Brunei stand at 91 with no New Deaths reported.
The ๐ต๐ญ Philippines recorded 387 New Cases of COVID-19 today, up from 330 yesterday. Active Cases have dipped below 42,000 from 43,000 while 15 New Deaths were reported, down from 131. Total Recoveries now stand at more than 3.57 million while Total Deaths have climbed to 59,030.
๐ฒ๐ฒ Myanmar reported 130 New Cases in the past 24 hours, down from 235 previously. Active Cases remain below the 23,500-mark while Total Recoveries now stand at 568,000+. Health officials in the junta-run state reported 1 New Death, resulting in Total Deaths rising to 19,430.
Health officials in ๐ฐ๐ญ Cambodia have reported 52 New Cases of COVID-19, down slightly from 59 yesterday, pushing Total Cases logged in the kingdom to 135,500+. Active Cases remain at the 1,000-mark. Total Deaths in the country stand at 3,054 with no New Deaths reported.
Total Deaths across Southeast Asia now stand at more than 340,000 with 254 New Deaths recorded today. On a positive note, over 23.80 million Total Recoveries have been reported across all 10 ASEAN member states to date.
