5,000 B40 PRIMARY SCHOOL STUDENTS IN JOHOR TO RECEIVE COMPLIMENTARY SPECTACLES
The Sultan Ibrahim of Johor Foundation (SIJF) in collaboration with Season Optical and the Johor State Education Department will be sponsoring RM1,000,000 worth of spectacles to 5,000 B40 primary school students throughout Johor.
During a presentation ceremony at the Johor State Education Department office today (10 May), the vouchers were presented by SIJF Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Fadhly Suffian Laili to Department Director, Md Said Md Daimon.
Also present were Season Optical’s CEO, Calvin Chung, and Chief Operating Officer, Daniel Lor.
Daniel said that after reviewing their last sponsorship program, they have made improvements for better ex*****on and distribution of spectacles to students in need throughout Johor.
“To speed up the process of identifying short-sighted students, we will be distributing Vision Acquity Charts to all schools in Johor whereby local teachers can carry out the first level of screening and refer students in need to us,” Daniel said to the Royal Press Office (RPO).
“In view of online classes being carried out in this current situation, we will be providing UV Nex lenses which can block out 99% of UV rays to protect their eyes from worsening due to long hours of facing computer screens.
“The spectacle frames provided are also bendable and highly resistant. It can bear up to 90kg in weight, hence students and parents can worry less when they are used during indoor or outdoor activities.
Md Said Md Daimon expressed his gratitude to both SIJF and Season Optical for their continuous support in helping B40 students in Johor.
“Students who can’t afford spectacles previously will greatly benefit from this and I would like to represent them in thanking the foundation and Season Optical for continuing with this initiative to help more students,” he said.
