What is SMEs Food Hub Store?

It is a new initiative developed to increase access to formal markets for products made by small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in Malawi. It expands the market for products by reaching out to more people that the SMEs would not have reached.
The first Store is opened at Gouji Shopping Complex, Area 49, Lilongwe, along Bingu Stadium-Area 25 Road

How it works?
Any SME can bring his or her product to the SMEs Store to stock for free. The Store will sell the product on behalf of the SME and remit all the money monthly based on units sold. If products finish before the month ends, the SME will receive all the money and requested to bring more stock. The shop adds a mark-up of 15% to assist management of the shop.

Who qualifies to bring products to SMEs Store?

Any small scale business that operates in Malawi (registered or unregistered)

Which products qualify?
Currently, we are focusing on food, personal care and household cleaning products. This initiative will expand to other products later.
Do not stock the products at home, bring them to SMEs Hub Store, customers will see and buy and make some sells. SMEs whose products are already on the formal markets; this Store present a chance to expands your market. Bring them too!!

Are the products required to be MBS certified?
Yes, very important but uncertified products are accepted for limited time. We understand certification is a process! The aim is to have all SMEs’ products certified. Guidance on MBS certification is also provided by the Store. Reach out!
