RELOCATING TO LIKUNI
I was visting Blantyre for the second time, and this time around it was very different from my first visit.
I had facilitated my travel to the commercial city without the concent of my folks as i tricked my Uncle to give me the transport money lying that father had reffered me to him,Im no saint.Young and ambitious i found myself in Ndirande at the end of that day.
I was told alot about the ever centre of attraction township and everyday was a race with days as schools where to open in two weeks time and i had to go back to Lilongwe.
Leo,a guy whom we shared a compound with was my tour guide on my journey to explore the busy township.I couldnt wait to go back home and narrate the everyday mayhems i came across during my stay in Ndirande at the same time i didnt want to leave the pleasure of swimming in the Nasolo river.
Schools were to open soon, and i bid farewell to my friends and family going back to the Capital City.
I hadnt talked to father in a while, well i couldnt, my departure from home wasnt permissable but they had learnt probably through my Uncle that i had gone to Blantyre but the thoughts of facing my parents after my stubborn actions nudged my mind.
"Ok,when you arrive in town come to my office we will proceed to home together" father hunged up the phone. My father was working even on weekends but why cant i just proceed home? Would he plan to yell at me at his work place in the presence of his collegues? Thoughts of a twelve year old they were.
I arrived in the afternoon hours in Lilongwe and went straight as advised to father's work place,to my surprise he was really happy to see me it had been three weeks since he saw me,i waited for him(my father) to finish his work and left for home at around 6 in the evening.
The direction we took was not the one that led home, but Dad knew better i had to let him lead."Likuni K150!" i heard a bus touter shouting towards us.Why going to Likuni instead of home? I thought to myself. We got into a minbus and in 15 minutes time we were in Likuni."Sorry i didnt say,we have relocated from Area 23 this now where we stay."
I was troubled in my young mind,to whom was i to narrate the stories of Ndirande? Perhaps there was no need i thought,Im now from Likuni.
Thats how my stay in Area 23 the place that still remains home came to an end.
