Some time ago, our 10–12-year-old group worked on painting an animals, focusing on fur texture, and using bright colours on a black background. 🦌✨
This age group is always fascinating to work with. Children at this stage constantly find new ways to surprise me—sometimes with conversations I never expected, sometimes with ideas that make us all laugh together.
With these young artists, I gradually become less of a teacher and more of a guide. Instead of saying, “Let’s do it this way,” I prefer to offer suggestions: “You could try this,” or “I would recommend that.” The final decision is theirs. At this age, children begin to develop a stronger sense of individuality, and you can often see the first signs of their own artistic style emerging.
My goal is to give them the freedom to explore their interests, trust their instincts, and experiment, even within the same assignment. Some projects become quite challenging, but they continue to impress me with their creativity, independence, and dedication.
One of the greatest joys is watching children who have been with me for several years grow from curious young creators into confident artists. They begin to think like artists, solve problems like artists, and see art as a meaningful part of their lives.
I always tell them: no matter what path you choose in the future, never stop drawing. You can become anything you want to be, but I hope art will always remain a warm and familiar place that you can return to throughout your life. ❤️
